Hi everyone, i always look in the kitchen section for any bargains and Asda at the moment have got all of their Pyrex items heavily discounted. My two dishes were £5 instead of £10. A box of 3 round dishes with lids were only £6 down from £18 as marked on the shelf. Being the real Pyrex brand you can't go wrong. I'm going back to get the box of three with lids.

Good deal. As for shattering, i can drop them in the sink with water after serving and have had no problem. I like a layer of onions, a layer of beef tomato's, a layer of red peppers, maybe a few chillies, topped with a layer of sausages (previously browned in a frying pan). A few herb's, cover in foil, oven gas 5/6 an hour. Serve with warm crusty bread. BOOM. One of my favourite meals

Been using Pyrex products for years and never had any shatter.

My local Asda had a whole shelf of these with around 20-25% discounts last week, not quite enough to tempt me in... fingers crossed they have some left at this price as need some new ones! Heat from me!

I picked up a couple of glass dishes like this from lidl last month. £3 each I think. Assuming they're good I'm not sure the Pyrex brand is the premium brand it once was

I am always careful about Brands and they quality levels. I checked and these Pyrex dishes are all made in France and are the genuine Pyrex Brand, not a 'similar'brand like you'd pick up in Aldi/Lidl. As for shattering, if you have had that happen then I put it to you that it wasn't a genuine Pryes dish. Pyrex is made from a special glass which contain Borocylisate (I think I've spelt that correct, without resorting to Google (I like to use my brain)). The addition of said compound changes the molecular properties of glass so that it is safe from thermal shock (shattering).
BTW I was in my local full sized Tesco yesterday and they too were selling genuine Pyrex dishes at reduced prices. I had a quick scan of things and they all, appeared to be 50% off original Tesco price and they were a different selection of choices compared with what was available in y local Asda.
