2766733-fFZGc.jpg
Update 1.3, Atlas Rises, brings a brand new and overhauled central storyline, portals, a new procedural mission system, trade improvements, system economies, joint exploration and more.

This update marks the one year anniversary of No Man’s Sky, and a lot has changed. Please see Pathfinder and Foundation for previous major updates. This is the next step on our journey.

Given the new update, I decided to get my old copy out and see what's happened. I was shocked to find everything I built, including my home planet and base has been totally wrecked by this update??? ALL my staff are gone - the work stations and objects inside have disappeared, the doors are missing and the corridors are in the wrong places and they don't even line up or connect anymore - I can't access half the rooms and my home base now needs to be demolished?? There's a bloke in my base and the teleport thing doesn't work and says I've never used it - despite the fact that I used it loads of times etc. Most of my resources have gone from my inventories. My ship's systems are damaged and inoperable. Everything I put outside my base is missing. My home planet which I chose because it was pleasant and had lush green grass, no sentinels, minerals, perfect climate etc. is now a barren toxic purple landscape with nothing there except sentinels trying to kill me. I also can't breathe not only outside my base, but also inside my base lol??? My life support systems drop instantly if I'm inside my own base. What the hell have they done??? Everything was in perfect condition when I last saved game. I went through so much pain, suffering and monotony to get where I had got in this game and they've wrecked everything. I'm going to have start completely from fresh again. Can someone confirm if you start again, do the learnt languages all reset or does your language knowledge remain?? I'd rather kill myself than go through all that again.

This is my kind of game (I thoroughly enjoyed Colony Wars all those years ago) but I'm 36 now with 3 kids and an ever growing backlog of unplayed games - at least a quarter of them being HD remakes of classics from yesteryear. I'm tempted but there's no point as there's no knowing when I'd get round to playing it.

Makes me reminisce about the days when I was 20 something, single and gaming into the early hours of the morning in Medal of Honor and Battlefield Vietnam team deathmatches. I don't regret becoming a father but I do miss those days of gaming liberty

AppStar to bigmacandfries

You're fortunate to be in a position where you have more time to yourself. Like you I feel my reflexes aren't what they used to be. Maybe I'm just getting old? My desire to own games remains the same but making the effort to actually play them is anothing thing. I guess not having enough time to actually complete a level (my wife sometimes times me) just adds to the frustration.

From the sounds of it you are me! Admittedly I do still push the late nights, playing from 10pm onwards. It's the only chance I get!

Ditto. Waiting for them to go to sleep at moment so I can squeeze an hour in on shadow of mordor on Xbox before the wife texts me from bed threatening divorce if I don't go upstairs.
AppStar to jaydeeuk1

The only problem is an hour is never enough for a gamer! 1 hour becomes 2, 2 becomes 3, and before you know it you've lost the house, car and kids.

You need a hyper jealous insecure dog that kicks off every time you get in to bed with the missus, or she gets in with you if you were there first, our mutt is so nuts at bedtime she ends up retreating to the spare room or banishing me and him to it

If I get the red card I can easily divert back downstairs where there's a 65 inch 4K telly, PS4, Xbone and Wii U but if she does the off to the spare room instead there's a 50 inch telly, the old 360 and even a Sky Q mini box if I fancy some telly to keep me occupied without having to move an inch

Women really have no right to control your gaming needs and can easily be cut out of the equation with sensible household planning and training involving extended family members

I used to do the 10pm shift but going to work and being a dad and husband is tiring and I find myself knackered by 10pm, sometimes even earlier. And if I do make it to 10pm there's not much fun to be had when you're playing a game half asleep.

I got this on ps4 and very happy with it, very relaxed game to play. However if I could find it as cheap on PC I would have got that version, the clipping distance on ps4 ruins the experience a bit.

Out of stock :disappointed:

On a related note, NMS was on sale for the same price during PSN's Summer Sale (which ended 2 days ago), but a physical copy is always better as it will retain some trade-in value if you ever want to sell it.

With the new updates this game is now definitely worth buying . It gets alot or stick but the devs have committed to regular updates and now pretty much working towards how they imagined the game with future free game updates committed

Still not worth the tenner. Once it drops to about £4 i'll bite.
takkischitt to steve_bezerker
17 Aug 17 #27
How do you know it's not worth it if you dont even have the game? lol

Bases etc got messed up as the devs had to regenerate the No Man's Sky universe to accomodate all the new feature and improvements. Unfortunately some peoples bases got messed up during it (what do you expect when you regenerate a universe)

Most players within the NMS community/player-base have totally welcomed this though as it has made so many improvements to the game that it's worth the potential base issues, etc.

If you just forget that base and move on with your current game, maybe find somewhere else to set up base, all your other progress is still there.

Another option, which quite a lot of people have gone for, is to just start a new game. This is good because you'll get the benefit of all the new content, missions, graphical improvements, gameplay improvements from the start again.

I went for the first option. Just left my base and went out into the stars to find somewhere new.

I am not in the habit of giving developers who blatantly lie about their products, my hard earned money. They ruined any chance of being well respected when they first released this game. I have plenty of friends who confirm that it is still not worth playing, but they agree that should the game go on offer somewhere for 'cheaper than a meal' then it would be worth it.

Great deal, especially for a tenner.

NMS really is a decent game now, but it's not for everyone. It doesn't hand-hold or give you specific instruction on everything you need to do, like most games nowadays. It leaves you to find your own path. The latest update has also improved pretty much every aspect of the game, and there is still more to come.

It really is stunning game visually, also...

I bought a cheap physical copy a couple of weeks okay on ps4 to see if I really would like the game, then jumped on the pc version once the update landed, well worth it, PC version looks sharper and crisper, but I am running a regular non pro ps4.

Yes, it should have been released like this but it's nice to know companies can turn things round with hard work. I can imagine they were pressured into releasing it whether they wanted to or not.

If you haven't played NMS at all then you're in for a treat as the game stands now and it's only going to get better. There is so much content for a tenner! A very relaxing game indeed.
