I bought mine a couple of years ago. Started off well, pumping the weights daily, working out my routine................3 days later I noticed I was hanging my towels off of it..................a week later, sold.

Quick question.
What do you do with your towels now?
Did you buy a treadmill?

free standing excerise bike; its more compact

Actually I did buy an treadmill lol. It was an electric fold up one. Ah yes, the vision of me running for miles while watching the TV spurred me on to buy that thing. Half of mile running later and my towel ended up on it and thats where it stayed until I freecycled it.

ahem 30kg weight stack; for most people, beyond the first maybe 1 to 2 months, you would get more excercise lifting it still packed up in the box it came in..
I think these machines are good thought but need a bigger weight stack and weights need to be suppmenetd with cardio exercises; so you would'nt normally work out evey day on these unless you pick different muscle groups and are really trying go to bulk up.

I don't want to be 'that guy' but it's only really a good deal if you have the strength of a small girl. The maximum weight is only 30kg

This. Pointless machine if you can't add more weight than the 30kg stack, doesn't look like you can.

Heat for the price but if you have some disc weights already I'd suggest a cheap pull down machine for about £75 from ebay. I've had one for about a year and it's been excellent. Do factor in a bit of money for a couple of attachments like a V-handle and single handle and it'll give you a lot more versatility than this machine would

Useless and pointless. 30kg, really? If you are really planning to exercise get a proper power rack, bench, Olympic bar (6ft if space is limited) and olympic plates. Will definitely cost more but you will be able to do proper exercises i.e. squats, deadlifts, bench presses etc.
My budget set cost me around £300-350.

Depending on how much you're willing to spend/ how serious you are. better to go for:
Olympic bar/weight set =£170 Squat rack= £90 (cheapest) Decent bench=£90(not the cheapest but a decent one)
Unilimted exercises just about plus you can do the main compound exercises.

Get a pair of kettle bells instead. You will develop a far wider range of strength and fitness and they don't take up much room.

What would you recommend and which is the cheapest

It really depends on your strength and fitness. I now use a pair of 10kg kettlebells for a range of high intensity exercises( HIT) to keep fit and I have a 19kg for 'swings', a great all round exercise. If you are trying to achieve muscle mass, big arms, legs chest etc, then you really need free weights, but if you want to lose weight and tone up you will find kettlebells hard to beat. Take a look on you tube as there are some great routines posted on there.
All of you guys posting about how useless this is, how about dropping a pic showing your progress? Guarantee that those going on about how it is for small girls just lug weights around with terrible form, chasing numbers for your ego over actual results.
As a former gym instructor/pesonal trainer and natural bodybuilder for 10 years without pumping pathetic substances into their system, this is plenty for good results when used for slow reps and/or high repetion sets in combination with bodyweight exercises.

Good point. Don't think many of the deal-hunters have enough time (and power) to run from one shop to another. Should be enough heavy to do some exercises after hours wasted at the computer.
afroylnt to Lulwut90
13 Aug 17#39
If the weight stack was bigger I would tend to agree but bench pressing 30kg isn't going to help many guys improve the amount of muscle they have. I normally do 6 reps each at 40,45,50,55,60kg on this kind of machine at the gym and I know that this is no great shakes.

That is really is some terrible advice. For 30kg you're better off getting a set of cast iron dumbbells and supplementing them with bodyweight exercises.
For the record, I'm pretty weak but even I would say 30kg is too low.

30kg.... On a machine....
This reinforces my impression of personal trainers.
afroylnt to DonnyBrago
14 Aug 17#51
That's a bit unfair. There are lots of very good personal trainers at the gym I go to. also older people will benefit greatly from doing some weights and won't need a large weight stack.

Probably a better example. This is on top of having 3 jobs. So with the right equipment at home and dedication it can be done.

It's not pointless at all, that's just a comment from people who don't see beyond their own little world. There are people out there with injuries, or recovering from illness or some older folk and many other people who would find this useful.

No I've had an account for years but had to log in via Facebook as I forgot password.
My cardio is usually just 4 minutes HIIT every morning consisting of skipping. To be honest, diet is the main thing. I'm only running on about 1700 calories mind you. Thank you though pal.

It's strange how everyone only thinks about 'what they do', I'm coming up to 55 commute every weekday on a single speed bike across London through some pretty serious hills, go to the gym at least 3 times a week, but I'm not interested in the Schwarzenegger body, just want to stay trim and fit. My routine involves 250 (5 x 50) reps of abs, pecs, lats and chest totalling 1000 + 1 hour hard cardio, the weights I use are 25kg so this would be ideal. I've got a BMI of 21, fat percentage of 12% and muscle percentage of 40%, this isn't bragging there are plenty of people my age who are a lot fitter....just sayin....horses for courses.

Many of these machines use a pulley system that increases the effort needed to lift the weight stack. Ie 30kg could be the equivalent of 60kg or more (normally says in the advert). Although this one has no mention of this.
