No DVD drive and still only 1 yr warranty. Why not take a look at SCAN as they offer 2 yr warranties.

Err 2 year manufacturer warranty...
And its not uncommon to have no DVD drive in laptops, saves space and weight. They are being used less and less as time goes on. And if one is really needed, external ones can be picked up from about a tenner!

DVD drive really not required nowdays. Would imagine that it comes with 2 yeah manufacturer warranty?
I've actually just picked up an Alienware R3 i7 (purchased April 2017) with a 1060 for £820 and still has warranty until 2020 from eBay. That's the bargain for me.

Some of us still have software on DVD and rip CD's, so a DVD drive is a necessity!

I guess, but blimey, move with the times :P
That's actually one thing I like Amazon for and their Audio Rip system, buy the CD cheap and get the digital files cheaper than purchasing through iTunes or Google Play

Yes, but some of us still like buying the actual music format (CD) containing a booklet with artwork, lyrics etc! Do you think vinyl is dead also? Not according to recent music sales it's not! Go into any HMV store and see their range of CD's and Vinyl. Get out more and buy some physical CD's or Vinyl. I have moved with the times because once I have bought a CD I rip it as a WMA (save it onto a USB for use in my car) and convert it to MP3 in iTunes and save that to my phone! As a CISCO engineer I am pretty tech savvy!

You can still get an external for when you need to do those things also...and they can be gotten pretty cheap.

As I said, that's why I like Amazon Audio Rip so when you buy the physical CD you get the files as well  saves the requirement of ripping yourself.

Be nicer if it was a 1050ti

I know, but you can get an external one if really needed. I don't think its a massive loss considering its like the digital age now..but I still think its pretty nice for the price!! I've been looking for awhile and I just had to share this deal! The bundle and money off just sells it more to me

Isn't there also a £100 cashback, bringing the price down to £799?

I wasn't sure about this as I'm not in the uk and it mentions being eligible for it. Do you know what the requirements might be? I might add this to the details also...so thank you!

I think you need a UK address for the cashback. Details and link will be provide when you purchase, so I can't check any more because I didn't buy it.

Don't buy MSI until after the Class Action case for misselling is over.

i7 and a GTX 1050 is such a weird combo. Basically a massive waste of an i7.
Clearly designed to con those who don't know any better, that card is better paired with an i3.
Granted you don't get a crap bag or a cheap headset and mouse, but given the performance delta between the two I could forgive that easily.

How is it a massive waste of an i7. You can max out a i5 gaming on a 1050. You clearly have no idea.

£100 more but you don't get the snazzy bundle pack or possible £100 cash back?

We've just purchased the Dell from Very for my partner, i5 with 256SSD and a 1050 (4 GB variant) for £630, add in £50 for a 1TB secondary drive and £50 for an upgraded panel if you don't like the one that comes with it and that's still only £730 for an i5/1060 (4GB) with a 256SSD and a 1TB HDD

Exactly. This "deal" is poor value.

I agree. Given the performance of the quad core i5 you get these days (in single and multithread), i7 does seem to be largely a marketing gimmick here. There was definitely scope to fit an i5 and a small (128GB) SSD instead of this i7 and a uselessly slow mechanical drive. Even if the hypothetical i5 is a bottleneck it'll be much less of one than a slow disk or the GPU

Is it just me or is it a lot of money to risk for all these laptops £800+ for 1 year warranty? If that breaks you're screwed

Nice - and it's a 17" screen much better than the crappy 15" deals that have been posted lately.

Well I'm gonna confess I'm not a total tech head here... I pretty much wanted a 17.3" monitor and the light up keys coz hell...why not!! Everywhere I looked the price started over £1k just for that alone!! And yes I was shopping specifically MSI coz I like them! I reckoned the new i7 chipset and the gtx1050 were all awesome specs to get for that price too!!
Now comments are saying new GPU with older CPU's? Old CPU's with new GPU's ....heck all I wanted was something nice for my budget and this is a pretty sweet deal for that! If I was going by total specs I'd have been looking at a much much pricier machine..
I'm just super happy to get what I wanted without spending a complete fortune and the extra's are the Cherry on top

People that want a better GPU better be willing to pay that extra monies. You're damn right. Have fun with your laptop.

Given that for only £100 more you can get a laptop that's about 96% faster for gaming. I don't really see it as a good deal, 96% more gaming performance for only 11% more cash? Yes please.
