Thanks OP, heat added. Make sure you Lidlers remember to scan your receipt to register your car or risk a £90 charge. This happened to me a couple of weeks ago in Farnham. Got the charge cancelled but upsetting all the same.

Weekend before last went into Farnham Lidl to buy some of their weekend offers. I usually go during the week and on occasion have forgotten to scan my receipt with no comeback. However, this time, my husband received a demand for a £90 charge a few days later in the post from Athena ANPR Ltd, who had been given his details by the DVLA. I still had the receipt so we emailed the company and the charge was cancelled. If you search online you will see this is happening more and more. There are suggestions that these charges are unenforceable in law but it is still an unpleasant experience. The top line of the sign in their car park says Lidl customers can park for free for 90 minutes - it says in smaller writing near the bottom of the same sign that to qualify for the free parking you have to scan your receipt in store.

Thanks for the info like I mentioned in my post there's nothing like that up here at the moment. I wouldn't ignore a charge though its just been in the news a woman must pay £24,000 or so because she thought the same. bbc.co.uk/new…203
