Seems only to work with Xiaomi routers - not recommended for third party routers.

If it's usb am I correct in assuming it needs to be connected to some sort of device to function or do you just stick it in a usb plug, probably a noob question but I don't much about these and the site is in French.
For context our router is downstairs, I'm looking for something to go upstairs that'll boost the wifi signal to the attic. Is this device suitable?

You can use a WiFi booster which relays the signal it receives and boosts it into a larger signal around the new antenna.
Personally I have a powerline adapter as boosters can be difficult to set up as if it is say, receiving a weak signal from the main router then it will broadcast a lower speed of internet than you get from your router at source, so placement with those is key.
Powerline adapters do the same as boosters but plug from the router into the wall socket (normal 3 pin plug). then you have another adapter (in your attic for example) which you plug another adapter into the wall up there and it either has an Ethernet point or Ethernet with wifi signal.
Basically uses your electrical house wiring as an Ethernet cable to send the signal up to the new adapter in the attic for rebroadcasting at a similar speed to the router. Have a read about them online, I have had netgear and bt models and both have worked pretty well.

Beware, in the title of the listing, it says its a Chinese version!!
Just use one of those old home hubs you have sitting in a draw.

I've been trying this on my asus wl500g for days and not succeeded: which is a massive pity. Gave up and went £5.80 in the end (wish i had all along frankly)

I have one of these and it works a treat. I actually get a more stable connection with this than my main router!
