From Southampton - this seems like a good deal considering it's during school holidays. Royal Caribbean do tend to be geared up for families. Free parking, free wifi and free parking at the port.

the killer is always the drinks, etc.. NCL seem to have an all in rate which may be better ...

Best rate for beers and stuff (cost me £4.20 for a 600 ml btl pear cider ) is on P & O. Bottle of wine expensive tho but P&O dont stop you from bringing extra bottles of wine on board from ports of call. Virtually all other cruise operators will make you feel like a criminal if you try and take alcohol on board. They confiscate it and return to you at end of cruise. Bought 2 litres of spirits in Gibralter and returned to the P&O Ventura without a word said. P&O easily the best cruise line to go with, families included.

You're a true Brit my friend - gotta get that booze in on holiday, to the point you change providers.

Very chavvy on board though, unfortunately.

We've cruised 5 times with P&O. We enjoyed the cruises but the last one on P&O Britannia in School Holidays was as you say 'Chavvy'. Packed with unruly kids who ran up and down the corridors at all hours. We've also cruised with Royal Caribbean 5 times and are back onboard this weekend. Weve always found there is loads to do and any kids onboard seem to be fully occupied. Service is way ahead of P&O staff. Yes drinks are more expensive but a holiday isn't all about the cost of drinks. Luckily however we have had a free drinks package thrown in on all our recent Royal cruises. Finally, our cruise line of choice is Celebrity. Not so good for kids but more upscale and a more cosmopolitan mix of passengers and booking an outside cabin or above gets you a drinks package.
As for this deal, its a good price for half term but an uninspiring itinerary and can be had for £14 less here. I went off Iglu some time back when the adviser said to remove the tips from the on-board account to save money. Those tips are the staffs wages.

Lol im not a brit and only had 2 drinks during a 10 day cruise. Buying cheap alcohol abroad stocks up the pressie cupboard. However cruises are a fantastic holiday especially those going to the Med. Last thing you need is to be treated like a criminal because you bought a bottle of plonk ashore.

How would I book for me the wife and 3 children, 9, 7 and 2? Only giving options for 4 people.? Never cruised before - Sorry!

I have a depressingly in depth, useless knowledge of making cruise websites. Somebody didn't want to code a multi-cabin booking system. You'll need to fill out the enquiry form (it's depressing how many cruise companies want face to face or phone call bookings to be their primary booking method).
Royal Carribean provide free cribs but a budget inside 2 person cabin could be a bit cozy with a crib in it. Also they charge hourly for the nursery facilities. Not sure on what the policy is for child only cabins.

Went on a similar cruise last year (on the navigator to Norway)
norway is nice, we have gone a bit later than this (once with rc and p&o) and got good weather, it's a great place to visit
only been been once with rc (been about 10 times with p&o thou) I thought drinks were expensive on this cruise line at the time it was $6 plus 20% gratuity so $7.20 for a 16oz bottle of bud (about 470ml) - maybe about £5.70 at the time. So getting merry was out of the question!
Compaired to p&o I thought there was less evening entertainment, and it also felt a lot less professional
one one of the things which made us choose this cruse was the advertisement of all the things to do, but in reality this didn't meet of expectations! Example, there is an ice rink on the ship we thought this would be open most of the time, but it was only open twice for two hours (and you could only do a 30 min session). The wave rider was also only open for about 4times

Our next cruise is Dec 2017. 12 nights Mediterranean with P&O. Cost us £550. Thats about £46 a night. Cheaper than staying at home and the food and ports of call are great. If your following this thread and havnt been on a cruise have a look at these bargains. Tips are optional these days by the way. Just ask them to take them off your account. You can tip separately for those staff that earned it. We do both as" kevinyork" pointed out its the staffs wages. Celebrity and Royal Carribean are two of the best. Avoid MSC and Thompson unless you really want to experience "chavvy"
