Wow, have one of these. So light. Bit firm (personal taste?) but very handy.

Bit worried about most of them ripping after a year.

I have one of those - bought a few years ago via black Friday deals with Amazon. Really light and sturdy. It will probably rip if you jump on it, but having used it as a normal lounger it is still going strong

Bought one a few years as well and only lied on it 2 times. Been in storage since. DON'T BUY THINGS THAT YOU DON'T NEED.

would this be any good as an alternative to a bed for camping?

Yes, is absolutely suitable, but is not very wide so I suggest it depends on your posture. It is quite comfy - compared to the floor that is

I bought it last year at about that price. Sturdy, comfortable and great value.
It is indeed a bit narrow. But most loungers are.
Also, the legs can't be locked. It is stable enough not to be an issue. But, with kids around, I'll opt for a lounger with that feature next time.

Mine only lasted a season and then ripped the length of the material

According to camelcamelcamel this was £19.99 on Aug 25 - I won't be buying this at this price!
