Look at it like this ,you can see all the lovely houses in beutifull detail that you can't afford now that you bought this.

Don't think the other half will see it that way unfortunately, I'll find myself looking for a house on my own :worried:

Great offer, though a bit out of my reach. Anyone got any deals or codes for a <£450 4k hdr tv? I'd like something between 43"-50".

Its not a true 4k TV for that price tbh £450.

Have a look at the LG 49UH668V was about £499, 4K TV with HDR.

Like the look of the LG OLED TV's. However, I have had 4 LG TV's in the last 8 years, 1 has been repaired 3 times and another developed a fault 1 month outside warranty which couldn't be repaired and LG weren't interested. Don't know if I've just been unlucky but it makes me think twice before paying this much for an LG.

I've not really been a supporter of LG thanks to a bad experience similar to yours with one of their earlier plasma models back 2001 or 2002. went straight to a mid range Panasonic PZ70 and now a reference ZT60 and never looked back. Its worth noting and acknowledging that LG has come a long way over the last several years, with a real focus on picture quality, evident by the implementation of ISF modes and picture controls to achieve calibration. Its apparent now they want a slice of the high end with OLED and the reviews confirm this.
regarding the one you had repaired 3 times, I would have pushed for a replacement after the breakdown post first repair.
impossible to say if this will breakdown but id say go for it, especially with the 5 year warranty. I would consider it but I love my calibrated ZT too much lol.

I've had a similar experience with LG's, they're always breaking... Then again, in terms of reliability I'm not sure which brand does actually stand strong.

That's a shame. My experience - albeit with one TV - has been the exact opposite. It's a 47incher bought from Richer Sounds 7 years ago, usually watched 2-3hours a day on average and touch wood, is still going strong. I bought the 5y extended warranty from RS for 10% of the purchase price and got it all back at the end of the term. I guess anecdotal evidence - an din my case an n of '1' - is hardly scientific fact but I wouldn't brush aside a whole brand based on personal experience.

Erm that statement is so off the mark it's unreal, as an owner of an LG 55b7 Sony can take an LG OLED panel and put their processors and sound expertise and knock it out of the park . Sony A1 once it receives the Dolby vision firmware update is way better than LG. Admittedly The LG is better value at half the price
Sharpharp to dappodan1
16 Aug 17#46
LOL, do you make a habit of trying to convince yourself? Have you ever owned a SONY? I have had both the latest SONY XE and the LG B7, and speak from facts.
I was speaking from a Build quality point of view, the Sony forums are littered with Sony board failures, the LG are king compared to SONY in EVER sense and that's just fact. The A1 comes close, but SONY will always be a follower not an innovator. Here's some homework for you, go check on google and you'll find a nice article on why Sony don't even make the grade on meeting the UHD 4K standard and invented their own to confuse people like you. So in conclusion, my statement is King.
P.S. You said Sonys "Sound Expertise".........LOL. Go ask in any Richer Sounds and see if nobody laughs at you mention if Sony's own soundbars connect to their own TVs. Have you listened to last years Sonys top of the line XD55 model? I've heard gramophones sound better than what feeble noise that comes out of a Sony.
P.S.S Go try using a Sony remote + Sony Android TV = 20 seconds for the TV to respond.
Now go use what I said above and use this next time you try and argue that Sony even comes close to LG
dappodan1 to Sharpharp

keep up bluntharp and Stay on Topic comparison is on their OLED sets and yes Sony's A1 sound and picture quality is better, especially the sound. LG have a temporary Monopoly on OLED screens (vestels Production line coming soon and sub £1,000 sets in the near future). The Sound on the LG is pathetic (unless you're going to Spend £1k on Dolby atmos sound bar) - play the intro them tune of Bojack horseman with the volume above 50 and you will be diving for the remote because the distortion sounds so bad that you think the speakers are going to blow). As for not being innovative I suppose having and Acoustic screen with Actuators pulsating the Sound through the entire screen without any visible speakers is Fred Flinstone tech?
Android TV being clunky and having a slow response time is because it is resource hungry but booting kodi up from TV and not having to go to a separate streaming box or channel more than compensates for any lag. I run Android TV from my nvidia Shield and I think the design and layout is better than LG's OS.
The only Advantage the LG B7 series has is the magic remote which is wonderful to use and a lower Price. Sony A1 Is better than the B7, however a B7 with an atmos sound bar will beat the Sony A1 and come in at the same price. Picture Quality wise having Watched Live Football and upscaled content on both Sets Sony is better.
But hey ho, Apples OLED TV has been leaked and you will have field day arguing with those demagogues
Why are you talking about the future, when you have no clue on the present Dappy? - You don't know what the Apple TV or Vestels will be like, so don't stop trying to be a voyeur...
Lesson Number 2 for you. Sony have a habit of coming with terminologies which sound good to the layman like u, who get excited at talking about Actuators pulsating, but in reality if you compared that A1 with the cheaper LG E6, the LG would trump it all day long.
To say the magic remote is the only advantage of the LG highlights your naivety in the field of A/V...
Rather than playing with your Actuators, have you looks at the menu options within the LG Magic remote? -If you did you would marvel at a setting in there where the TV performs tests on the room it is in and selects the best acoustics. -The difference is night and day.
Don't feel bad, just putting you right on facts, not speculative statements :muscle:

Agree with all that has been said Sony are now always following not leading the market. I have a Sony HRT5 soundbar and its the worse bit of kit i have ever bought which was unusable for over 12 months as sony cocked up the firmware on it and it took that long for them to fix with an update. I would never buy a sony product again. NEVER

Have Sony even fixed the issue of not being able to use external or embedded subtitle files in mp4 or mkv files yet. That one thing alone will stop me ever buying another Sony TV.
No Dothraki for GoT was very very annoying until I realised that my PS4 would let me use srt files. So if my Sony PS4 can do it, why the hell can't my Sony TV???

to be fair, motion handling for tv programs and films is poo on an LG, sony and others are better in that department

I've had several Sony sets as far back as CRT. never had one go, solid as a rock and great quality.
On the flip side I bought LG Viewty phone once, it broke and HORRIBLE customer service.. Bought a LG Plasma, it broke and HORRIBLE customer service....

Well it's OLED and not much choice for OLED as Sony and Panasonic (even Philips) also use LG OLED Panels and are much more pricey.while Samsung is sadly refusing to make OLED and busy trying fraudulently market their new LCDs as "qled" to fool simple minded consumers into thinking it's something different like OLED.. LG is probably the best option price/tech/qualitywise right now.

I think it's increased competition, this year, as Panasonic and Sony also have OLED sets available. Hence LG having to go for price advantage.

I think they both have LG panels, so LG get a sale every time.
The other models simply have Sony/Panasonic tax added to the price...
