Great price paid 170 last week, no band 20 not been an issue for me as on EE and it updated to nougat as part of the setup. The rapid charge plug supplied will be the 2 pin ones used in Asia and gearbest supply a 3 pin adapter, but not been brave enough to use that yet so been charging on existing chargers but once charge battery goes to down to 30% after 2 days use and thats with watching video, frequent WhatsApp use and web browsing.

I've been using the supplied 2 pin with adapter and it's been great, you'll be surprised how fast it charges it, mine goes from <10% to 100% in a little over an hour. Likewise, I'm getting 2-3 days battery usage with heavy web browsing and messaging, great phone at a great price.

Ah ok, thanks for advising that, is that when connected to wall socket or an extension lead? I was reading the phone can get hot when rapid charging and got concerned the 3 pin adapter may not have been designed for it if the plug got hot too.

I've used it via an extension lead and directly in the wall, you are right though, it does get a little warm but no warmer than my LG G4 used to during fast charging.

Bargain! I've recently returned an S8+ and gone back to the Lenovo P2. I guess I'm not ready to use a phone which I have to charge up to twice a day!

Really, is the S8 that bad? Good to know as I was considering an upgrade. I've heard about the legendary battery life of the P2.

It is. I record GPX tracks on my cycle rides which keeps the P2 active. No problem with 12 hour rides. Whereas my Nexus 5X struggled with half that even with a Anker power pack attached!
Oh and I get much cleaner GPX tracks too. The skin is a step down from the 'pure' Nexus/Android but slapping a third party launcher sorted that. If only Three would OTA Nougat - that's my only gripe. Well and the camera which is pretty naff after the gorgeous 5X.
I suppose I ought to update manually. Trouble is if I brick it there is no easy replacement. I don't do Gearbest for the obvious reasons.

The S8 is brilliant, don't get me wrong. Absolutely loved the VR experience too. I had auto brightness on, set to the same level as P2 but only managed around 6 hours SOT whereas the P2 would last over 10 hours SOT. You've got to account for the fact the S8+ has a more powerful CPU, bigger screen and smaller battery. Bloatware wasn't an issue once I'd downloaded an app to disable anything I liked (no root needed) and the dreaded Bixby button that I kept pressing accidentally. I know Bixby went live in the UK yesterday but it's not a feature I'd ever use. Camera was incredible though. So yeah, great phone but I prefer the P2.

You are spot on there although I've noticed it does tend to depend what the installed apps are as if I were to not use any social network always on type apps like Facebook and say Snapchat the battery life extends by hours but then again allot of people use such apps abd aren't willing to give them up.

He is clearly exaggerating as I own the S8+ and can tell you with heavy use eg, picture, video taking and a moderate amount of gaming will get you around 11 hours, that being heavy use, if I was just browsing the Internet and watching video streams, message and calling then 15 to 20 hours will be the norm. Here's a screenshot if you look at the used time in the left top corner it's done 60 percent in 20 hours of moderate use.

Well I was just going by my experience with the phone. Definitely nowhere near the same battery life as the P2, that's for sure. Had all the same apps installed too. Maybe it needed "bedding" in but I didn't have it long enough.

Lol what was you doing with your S8? Mine seems to last around 20 hours with heavy use.

I bought mine from Three for £199, but they are out of stock. Is it safe to buy from gearbest? What if something went wrong? How does the warranty cover you?
Also how have you guys managed to update to nougat? I've checked over and over again for OTA firmware update, but nothing as yet.

Mine picked up the OTA update, but if it doesn't, you should be able to to do it via settings>about phone>software update, I had to update a few small updates, then it did the biggy and updated to 7, which was just shy of 2GB

Thanks mrtim. Unfortunately I've found I can't go for it because it's not got Band 20, which I require for 4g signal. I wish I could get such a version.

Is this better than the Xiaomi Note 4? Also, could anyone recommend a case/screen protector for this phone? Thanks.

I did a quick check last night and found this comparison, which I hope you'll find useful
I considered this when buying a new phone but came to the decision that the Note 4 was better. This phone is probably much better if you do a lot of battery-intensive but fairly memory-light things (like watching internet browsing, videos, high-accuracy services etc), as the reviews I read generally praised the battery and relatively low-level operation, but weren't keen on it for intensive use (things like gaming).
Despite the same RAM, the Note is a more powerful phone. But this has a ridiculously good battery. If that is a key for you, this is probably a better phone.
This is also my dilemma, both look pretty similar but can anyone comment on the P2 camera?

Seems excellent to me, sound on video very good too.
I have no doubt you may find better on iPhones high end Samsung but they're not under £200

Worth noting that Plusnet (5gb data for £10 a month) works without Band-20, so if you're concerned that your current provider won't work with this phone, you can always move there.
