Whats the difference between this 5'5" 'phablet' and a 5'5" phone?
Uridium to cullies

nothing. Phablet was just a term for phone\tablet crossover devices used a few years back when phones usually had smaller screens.

Long, long ago in a land not far from here it would have been...
Is it a tablet? Is it a phone? No, it’s the Samsung Galaxy Note! With its 5.3in screen, the Note can be seen as either a very small tablet or a very large phone, depending on your perspective. However, given its SIM and 3G capabilities, we’re going to have to go with the latter on this one. And the Galaxy Note – or GT-N7000 in model number parlance – isn’t just any ‘phone’ (phablet, tabfone, whatever).
I called mine a hyphota (HYbrid PHOne TAblet). After that I had a Sony Z Ultra. Loved big screens before anyone else realised they were the way - I remember my boss taking the p out of my Z Ultra! Latest large screen is a Doogee Y Max! : )

This has got to be the cheapest 4+64Gb phone we've ever come across?

Seems to have Band-20 and a headphone jack. No NFC though, and the battery seems to leave a bit to be desired (which is a bigger problem if you're planning on making use of its good RAM/storage by playing/watching loads of stuff). Still, a lot of phone for the price.
Seems like an interesting buy. I'm very tempted. Its not gonna give you the feeling that you've got something similar to a flagship phone, but for the money it definitely looks (specs wise) better than the budget UK models.
I've no idea what sort of company Leagoo are in terms of updates, security , trojans etc. Anyone know? Having it on Android 7 when a lot of manufacturers are still using 6 for their lower end phones is a pretty good sign I think.

This should perform better than a sub £300 tablet with these specs shouldn't it? How long it will last before going faulty is anyone's guess tho

Used to have Leagoo phones back in the day, and this is my opinion :
There are no OTA updates. In a year of using my phone, 0 updates. Checked monthly and no luck. Considering that, your security patch is most likely a month-two older from the date you bought the phone. Depends on the firmware. Mine came with some bloatware apps so I flashed TWRP back in the day to install some app removers that can use root access to delete system apps. Android 7 on low budget phones is what I like to call a gimmick. The battery from what I can remember is ok but it can get drained really goddamn fast if you use a lot of youtube.
It's worth to flash a Custom ROM if you can find any, preferably a Resurrection Remix if you're used to it, as they got weekly/monthly updates and security patches.
I have made a mistake going with Leagoo in the past, and I'll do it never again.
Xiaomi has a place in my heart, alongside Umi and LeEco. Currently using my Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (old, but prices are dropping and you can get it for cheap) and it's working out great. They only thing I have with them right now is that they don't have an SD Card slot, but you get used to it.
