I bought this from Homebase 2.5 L for £12.50, it's absolutely pants. I had 4 6 panel, pre primed doors which I first gave a coat of acrylic primer undercoat to. It took 2 coats of this to get a reasonable finish, 3 coats in places. It dried patchy and without sheen in many areas. On darkened or stained wood FORGET IT, I went and spent an extra £1.50 on Screwfix's No Nonsense satinwood, which is oil based and covered over twice the area with a better finish. I was that disappointed with this paint I even wrote a review on the Homebase website, something I don't usually do. I ended up using what was left as a bare wood primer.

Just to counter the above, having used a huge variety of satins this is by far my favourite in terms of finish and ease of application.

Recently been decorating the new house and I bought Johnstone's for a feature wall in Yellow, it took 4 coats to successfully cover magnolia!! the Crown i used took 2 coats to cover fully... but saying that the Johnstone gloss i used one coat went on great.

Worst paint I ever used, painted the hall and landing, within days it the paint became peelable by the slightest knock.i had to repaint it all.. nasty.

This paint is best for bare wood . So unless you have stripped all your doors and skirting or it's new I would leave satin alone as it just peels after awhile

Cpt banana, the Johnstones TRADE Aqua satin is a pretty decent tough water based satin. Johnstone trade centres, or Amazon. This reyail product u used is not very good there is far far better water based satins. Also at screwfix they sell amstead quick drying satin much higher quality, covers good, much tougher than the retail rubbish Johnstones homebase Argos etc sell. No contest.
Top tip is AVOID Dulux quick drying satin. Both TRADE or retail product. Absolute pig to apply. Mark my words!
The oil based satin u have applied will be light cream in 6/12 months. This applies to ANY oil brand. Stinks 2,

i will never buy this brand again!!! just done the girls bedroom with their silk emulsion , duck egg blue (covering over off white) four coats and 2 tins later.... still patchy
