The only thing bugs me is my Epson WF2510 has only been used around 10 times since buying it 10 months ago. It's as new with original box and plenty of brand new spare ink cartridges. But every time you change the ink, you have to head clean the printer too. Got my one yesterday. The ebuyer invoice doesn't appear to have the serial number on it but there is space in the online form to put it in. I guess it depends on how picky the person processing the trade in is as to whether they reject it because there is no serial number on the invoice. The toner or ink cartridges do need to be in the box (not in the printer) but they dont necessarily need to be from the original manufacturer. Does anyone have a referral code for free ink ? Their terms actually states those requirement, I do not believe HP themselves do the checks it passed on to another company. We have one of these printers at work. print quality is fine, but it is very slow to print the first page, up to 30 seconds or so.
How does the free ink offer work? Can I register the ink offer and get 2 months supply for free then cancel the subscription?
Ph0enix to inonefly
21 Aug 17#10
Instant ink works as a subscription offer, let's say you put your print allowance 1000 per month. You are allowed to print upto 1000 per month within that time you get ink sent to you when your printer is getting low. You must be connected to the internet, and you won't get ink sent out until you run almost dry. That is what I read....
hcc27 to Ph0enix
21 Aug 17#12
Corret
Correct, however the highest no of pages you can go for is 300/month, their 'frequent plan'. Instant Ink does not cater to office-type workflows, they will lose a lot of money that way.
Ph0enix to hcc27
21 Aug 17#16
That's true, I didn't think the print allowance was low. But then I don't print much for myself, I've got the HP 7740 which isn't available for instant ink.
EndlessWaves to inonefly
21 Aug 17#20
No, the catridges sent as part of the offer only work while you're subscribing
You can cancel at any time and your sub will end at the end of that month (so cancel after first month and sub will terminate within the free 2 months).
You can use code FREEINK to get an extra free month, it will stack with any free months that come with the printer. If you know anyone that is an existing subscriber you can ask them (not allowed on forum threads) for a referral code and get another extra month. Easiest way is to enter these during printer setup and instant ink setup.
If you get the printer its definitely worth singing up for instant ink and rinsing the free months. Depending on how much you print and what you print it can still work out competitive against buying carts once the trial expires. For example if you print lots of full colour pages and will roughly hit the plan page limit, its worth considering. If you print text/black and white predominantly and won't use up the plan pages, probably not worth it.
Ph0enix to Mentos
21 Aug 17#22
Please note that the following HP Setup cartridges Black: ~800 Cyan/yellow/magenta: ~490
HP 953 Black: ~1000 Cyan/yellow/magenta: 700
HP 953XL Black: ~2000 Cyan/yellow/magenta: 1600
HP 957XL Black: ~3000
You may not even get new cartridge sent if you do not hit the low level ink requirement when printing with the starter pack. If you are planning to use the HP Instant Ink subscription, there are 3 packages
£1.99/month 50 pages
£3.49/month 100 pages
£7.99/month 300 pages
You can end the subscription at any time
Mentos to Ph0enix
21 Aug 17#25
In my experience they sent carts straight away, despite the starter carts still having ink. But we got the 8710 with ~£80 instant ink credit plus 3 months free trial, so perhaps thats why they sent the carts.
Its worth bearing in mind the instant ink carts will be disabled once your subscription ends. From what I understand your starter carts will become instant ink carts, therefore it may be worth rinsing them until they are almost empty before signing up for the trial. I don't believe theres any way to sign up without an active cart in the printer, but I didn't look to hard as wasn't too bothered about the starter carts.

I can get this printer straight from HP (via employer discount) at £130. The HP page says only £50 cashback though if I were to order from HP and then use the Global Promotions link to request the £100 trade in, would this work? What do you folks think?

21 Aug 17#11
OP this is a cracking find, however your post does not make it clear that the price is reduced down to £39.98 with the promotion (rather gives the impression it is £139.98 WITH the promotion). You'd probably get more hotness if you edit it.
What an incredible price for an office-grade printer. Mostly due to the very low labour and raw material costs wherever HP has outsourced its manufacturing to (probably the PRC). A certain leader in the US wants to bring manufacturing back to the USA, at which point these printers will be at least triple these prices!! Buy while you can, this kind of economic conservatism/isolationism will mean the death of many currently flourishing brands.
Ph0enix to hcc27
21 Aug 17#14
It's seems the title been edited by HUKD staff, I've put it down as £39.98 in the title. But with any cashback I believe they wanted the retail price displayed just encase you can't retrieve the cashback. Since it's HP own promotion, I don't see how it would fail unless you have them a printer that doesn't work.
HP trade-in also pick up your printer, either at home or work. Though I'm still in the process of getting the offer validated.

I believe you can not stack the cashback, the terms says 'may not' but the promotion website would detect the same serial number your entered for trade in.

You may not even get new cartridge sent if you do not hit the low level ink requirement when printing with the starter pack. If you are planning to use the HP Instant Ink subscription, there are 3 packages

But their printers on the HP store are going out of stock....when I bought the 7740 (next day delivery) it is now OOS , and the 8720 (next day delivery) is now delayed delivery.
HP trade-in also pick up your printer, either at home or work. Though I'm still in the process of getting the offer validated.
Copy and paste as the trade doubler screws it
£100 trade-in is better, if you can't find a useless printer than £50 cashback is easier.
