Seems a good price for a 17 inch laptop? HP too and 10 percent off for new customers.

Sluggish CPU, dodgy screen resolution (1600x900) and HP too... means this won't get very hot. If you have a spare SSD that'll help.

CPU most important component of a laptop. If your're happy to pay £379.99 for a slow, sluggish CPU then by all means click. You should be looking for an i3 equivalent in performance at this price.

If it meets his needs then surely anything more would be indeed overkill and over priced? Find me a 17.3 laptop then please to the same value, with an i3 processor.

Your're paying more for less. The CPU in this laptop you'd expect in laptops sub £250 so why would you pay £380 for one. It's like buying a £40k Jaguar sports car and it comes with a 1.6L engine.
''Seems to be a lot of processor snobbery out there mate'' You say that because you don't know anything about computers and that's why you think this is a good deal.

The laptop you posted up has the equivalent to this AMD A9 9420 CPU click. Your're only paying £259 for yours.

This thing is like a paving slab...also poor spec, old components.
Not good value for almost £400.

It's not snobbery. That APU has equivalent processing power to the Intel Core2 Duo E8300 released in 2008. It will be okay for Email, Facebook and light word processing but nothing serious.
If you just want the big screen for watching movies, beware that it can't display in Full HD.
It could be just right for some people. Just be aware of its negative points.
