I have been looking at replacing my ageing Voodoo MTB and have come across this one. Seems to have all I want for a reasonable price. Can't find it any cheaper. Anyone has experiences with GT? Rutland is pretty good and have purchased from there before.

I'm after a decent hardtail, how does the GT compare to this?
Decathlon is a decent bike but there has been a recent frame recall on that Rockrider but it only effected the larger frames. I personally don't rate Btwin frames they seem to be designed more for lightness than strength and that is borne out by the recall and lack of reinforcing on the frame but if you are a shorter lighter rider it looks a fine option with good components for the money. Check out the uk reviews on the Decathlon site though for some perspective. Some people seemed to have had a lot of issues but that seems to be more about poor assembly by Decathlon stores rather than the bike itself. The sad fact is its luck of the draw when it comes to having a bike well assembled by a store you bought it from, most are good but not all.
I'd also check out the halfords range of Carrera and Voodoo bikes some are fantastic bikes at great prices and halfords are always doing offers to bring those prices down.

I'm 6'3" so I'd need an XL frame! Cheers for the info

I am looking at 2 bikes a second hand but vgc Carrera fury 2010 and a GT Avalanche Elite 2016 only used once, which one should I go for,the GT is a bit odd as the guy says it was a Xmas present and only used once, his feedback is 0 as it's his first sale on Ebay, although I'm going to meet in person,he says he wants the payment through paypal when I meet him though rahther than cash,I assume to gather his feedback on Ebay

I paid 12.99 for my pump and its seem a very good quality. 50 quid is very steep

I would get the Gt the air forks on the voodoo will need a fork pump which when i last got one was £50. That triple triangle frame is bomb proof too.

The pump for my Epicon's was about £15 from fleabay? :-/
Air forks make a huge difference though and a better upgrade than drivetrain components!

I have this bike & got it last year when it came out for £600. A good bike, but have had a few problems with it, but I think that was more to do with poor setup by the bike shop I bought it from. The peddles were changed because of some reason the shop made up, chain slippage, gears jumping too high or low & the chain ring has been changed, the bike was also sent back to GT HQ for repair.

Had a GT Avalanche Disc 3.0 (2010) for 7 years now, done several thousands of miles on it over those years and it has been and still is solid, apart from consumables such as tyres and brake pads, It has had no problems, I have just this week fitted a new set of wheels, a new cassette, chain and some new handlebar grips which considering the mileage I have done, I would have had to have done on some bikes a long time ago.

I have had the GT aggressor for a few years now. Fab bike, still going strong.

Think GT is better value for bucks than the Voodoo

Not their entry level bikes like the Palomar its a joke mountain bike with a freewheel that competes with price with the Carrera and occasional Voodoo bike when on offer but is more like an Apollo bike. This is a good bike but then its normal price is £650, above the price of most Voodoo hardtails. Even at £650 though it seems to offer a better spec than its competitors like Trek, Specialized etc.

I've had a similar spec gt since 2010 and it's still going strong despite lots of abuse.

Voted hot, looks a great bike for the price. I guess we are moving into sale time now as the new 2018 range will be coming in soon.
I got this Scott aspect 930 for 399 from tweeks. It was priced higher in the website, but called them up and they did it for 399.tweekscycles.com/bik…017

I've had a GT Avalanche for a few years now. I have the 2011 Avalanche 2.0 version which is now the Elite version. It's been pretty solid tbh. No problems with it at all. I do get it serviced every year which helps and clean it regularly. Excellent spec too.

The GT is prettier but the Calibre two.two v2 @ 399 from go outdoors is worth a look. Very highly regarded at the price point (much like Voodoo themselves!)
