Never trusted virtual partitions for Windows, never will and served me well over the years when I have seen others pull their hair out....

What do you mean by virtual partitions? I use regualr partitions as I wouldn't want my C drive with the O/S to be 1TB as when it comes to making a backup image it would be too unwieldy.

Exactly what it says its a virtual partition.... I'm not going to go in to detail as it would take far too long, I suggest you Google it..

That's cleared that up then! Are you referring to partitions for virtual machines then and if so how does that relate to this product?

No nothing is do with vm it's basically without going into huge detail, emulating a logical drive.. As I said you want Chapter and verse Google it, it's not something you can simplify in a sentence or two..

I did Google it and didn't come up with anything that seemed on topic for this product type. Thought I might learn something so if you have a link?

He probably means logical partitions within an extended MBR partition.
Either that or a "mount on boot" Virtual Disk like .vdi or .vmdk

If anyone wants to resize partitions, I would recommend the open source tool GParted (http://gparted.org/). Might not be the best in the user friendly department, but it does the job perfectly, and it's battle tested (been around for 10+ years).

I hate that program, I mean I really hate it! Grr nasty. Anyway get AOMEI Partition Assistant, better than most of the rest and it's FREE.

This right here, no other Partition software comes close.
Lifetime license means nothing if the software messes up, if AOMEI Partition Assistant was a stripper, i'd be making it rain all day

After hours of scratching I came across this gem. So simple and effective.
I'd created a system image of my Win 10 old 60gb ssd to transfer to a new 120gb ssd. Once restored to new drive, Windows created a partition of the same size as the original.
To extend the partition to use all available space became very time consuming, as many partition tools including Windows Disk Management didn't seem to have facility to do so. Then I stumbled upon the beauty that is AOEMI, 5 stars! Highly recommended.

Although it's been my go-to for years, it occasionally has some nasty showstopper bugs and has managed to totally trash a few partitions of mine in recent years: it's not 100% reliable, but then none of them are.

I'd also add GsmartControl for testing hard drives before reinstall. If your drive has pending/reallocated bad sectors chances are it's a timebomb waiting to happen. Can also query SSDs, shows how many times it has been power cycled, lifetime hours etc.

Doubly great if you are running both Linux and Windows on the same drive and need to re-adjust partitions. Plus updates/new versions will always be free.

Doesn't Windows have the ability to resize it's own filesystems (NTFS) from within the disk management utility?
