Just doing my first load of dough in the new machine. The dough came out of the pan feeling really 'spongy' which is always a good sign that it will bake well in the oven.
Oh, and Aldi strong white flour is currently on offer at 69p per 1.5 kg bag. Not much of a saving on the 75p normal price but worth buying in some for stock if you're a big baker!

Mine arrived today. V happy.
Don't forget to register for your two year warranty as in my experience, the 'collar' that holds the paddle spindle in place will fail at about 18 months. Twice now I've claimed on the warranty and both times, Morphy Richards have been good enough to send me a new mixing pan.
I've absolutely no doubt that this isn't quite as good as a Panasonic breadmaker but it's between a third to a half of the price. Easy decision to get this one instead.

You can buy replacement spindle units for panasonic bread makers, they're about 23 quid. Mind you a whole baking tin with new paddles costs less for my lidl one.
I'd suggest pouring a drop of vegetable oil in the pan around the spindle and giving the paddle a turn by hand (before inserting the tin into the machine) to try to lubricate the spindle and its plastic bush, before adding the other ingredients.
I found it stopped my fastbake tin leaking water around the spindle when the bush got worn, it also stopped the dough getting in the bush and being baked in solid, seizing the spindle and requiring a long soak to free it.

You also can buy replacement mixing pans for the Morphy Richards breadmakers for similar money but when the entire machine only costs £43, it's not sensible to keep replacing just the pan.
It's only when the spindle finally drops out the pan that you see how flimsy the securing collar is. It's about the width of a piece of wire. I'm surprised Morphy Richards haven't made the design more robust but maybe the idea is that they're purposely designed to fail so you have to buy another machine.

I've already bought a spare tin and paddles for my lidl one, they cost just over £13 delivered, a third the cost of a new machine, so I think it was well worth it.
The pan has lasted two years so far, and the spindle mounts looked a bit more substantial that the fastbake I had, but I reckon I'll be lucky if I get another year's use before one of the spindles starts leaking. What I really want is a bread maker with paddles that flip up into the lid, so no more leaky spindles or the holes in the loaf  .

Made my first white bread rolls today from our bread maker, added far too much Yeast (my mistake)but nevertheless they turned out really well

Thanks OP. My current Morphy Richards bread-maker is now five years old. I only use it as a dough mixer rather than a bread-maker. It still functions but a lot of the coating has eroded from the sides of the baking pan (it happens it you add a lot of seeds like I do). Also the collar that holds the paddle in place has self-destructed (it happens if you use the pan to make twice as much dough as the thing is designed for!). I've bought this one and hopefully it will last another five years! Heat added..

I make bread with lots of seeds in it too, and the coating on the Panasonic pans shrugs them off. Do yourself a favour and buy one of those instead.

- makes a 2lb brick in under an hour I bet!

Great idea! Now tell me where exactly I can get a Panasonic bread-maker for £43.20 and I'll go straight out and buy one...

Your remark doesn't make sense, because I'm saying the Panasonic is better, not the same.

If you want a decent breadmaker it has to be a Panasonic - widely recognised as the best by a big margin. More expensive but they're not exactly giving this MR away.

I haven't tried a Panasonic, but I used on of these for a few months and replaced it with a Lidl Silvercrest twin paddle bread maker.
The Lidl bread maker makes great bread, but I was rather disappointed with the loaves made in the fastbake, The Fastbake is also a bigger machine than the Lidl one, yet the lidl one is able to make a larger loaf. The replacement tubs are really cheap too.
Lidl usually sell them in either August or September, this was last years offer:- hotukdeals.com/dea…831
