Expect to get £100 bill credit if you actually proceed to online chat and push them for a deal, might work best if you have already placed an order to move to another provider.

Why would you pay £28 for line and fibre when bt offer the same for circa £15/16?

27 Aug 17#12
£15 for unlimited fibre and line rental? Where/how do you get that??
Unlimited fibre with BT is £34.99 a month and £49.99 after 12 months. Even if you factor in the £125 new customer gift card you're no where close to your figure. Line rental is £16.99 on it's own...

These ressons for me:
- Friends living near me not happy with their BT service - wi-fi dropouts, etc
- Difficult to engage, Indian-based support
- The hassle of changing / signing-up for a new contract with another ISP
A few years ago, TalkTalk offered me free basic BB for a year, which I refused for some of the reasons mentioned above.
Some of us want a hassle-free service & with UK-based support, even if it costs considerably more :-)
xeroc to Crossbow
27 Aug 17#19
I don’t get the whole support thing? Once your broadband is up and running why on earth would you need to contact them? In all my years of having broadband I’ve never placed a single support call
As an aside, WiFi dropouts will be caused by the router hardware - not the ISP

Anyone who does this..... Can you confirm if it has any effect on your line rental. It says on there this will replace any existing fibre offer. I currently have 5 pounds off fibre but free line etc rental. Just got this last month. Obviously if I do this will save another fiver in theory but don't want to mess up the free line rental
laurenceharper to sean23
27 Aug 17#37
According to the T&C's, it will remove any existing discounts on your (broadband) package.
Crossbow to sean23
27 Aug 17#38
As laurenceharper says, it'll replace any existing offer - not merge them to give you the best of both, as you're hoping. So take whatever works out cheaper for you overall.
If you're not sure, talk it through with one of their support staff, so you're aware of all the details, prices & ramifications before making your choice.

Vodafone and PlusNet have been offering unlimited fibre and line rental for £25 combined. I put in my cancellation notice with Sky fibre and phone then called back on a number of occasions for an offer and finally they bettered the £25 with £20 for line rental and unlimited fibre :-) Also asked for a free next gen router (Sky Q Hub?) as I'm stuck on the single band hub 2 but they couldn't offer that on top.

You can also get roughly £100 cash back at quidco. I switched recently as all sky offered me to stay was half price broadband for a year. With BT I got:
- 52mb unlimited broadband (faster than sky 32mb) - £29.99a month - £150 prepaid card - £100 tracked at quidco - £10 for router - £25 activation fee (half price) all in costing me - £12 per month

Yes it can be a pain sometimes I go via another option say a different service and tell them I've done a mistake and clicked on wrong link or whatever. they then forward me to the right person and says I'm 1st in line. Or watch paint dry and be super fast on that click

I think I will give this a try paying £42.99 at the moment and contract ran out ages ago. It's £20 for fibre unlimited plus £18.99 line rental plus £4 for sky talk evenings and weekend extra which I never use. Would I be able to cancel the sky talk and still get this discount I am happy with sky fibre and don't want to change and am a bit bothered that if I threaten to leave they will let me go.

Went through to the offer and got mine reduced to £5 a month, but tied in, so with the £18.99 line rental, cheaper but not sure if it will alter my whole package as still in contract till November on an MSE deal.

If you actually cancel you get far better deals, you can stop the cancellation right up until the end of the notice period. Hand in your notice, I wouldn't waste your time negotiating then, wait for the retentions team to ring you within 30 days. Reason your leaving = too expensive.
Be really nice when they call (good acting required on your part ;p), take it slow, build a rapport and when they make an offer say sorry it's just too much, keep doing that as long as you can be bothered or they can't do any better.
I'd be hoping for minimum 50% off and some account credit. I haven't dealt with sky for about 4 years though, I'm currently with Virgin paying about £16 a month.
