I decided to go with rechargables specifically because my Apple magic mouse eats a set or more of batteries per week. Recharged duracells last as long as the ordinary ones, and so far I haven't experienced any performance decline (been alternating 2 AA pairs for over a couple of years).

Just noticed that Duracell appear to be very misleading - this isn't a 15 minute charger. Other manufacturers would label this a 45 minute or 1 hour charger as that's how long it takes to charge 2 low capacity batteries. The Duracell 5 minute charger is their 15 minute eqyuivalent.

Just what we've come to expect from the Duracell marketing machine!
If anyone's that pushed for emergency power, just keep a couple of standard alkalines ready.

I just keep a few spare sets of fully charged low self discharge batteries (Eneloop, GP Recyklo, and Lidl pre charged) on hand.

These fast chargers are supposedly not great for battery lifespan :disappointed:

Stay clear of these 15 minute chargers. Will affect the lifespan of your batteries.

As long as you understand the drawbacks, I think these ultra fast chargers can be quite handy. I mainly use a smart charger, but have a uniross 15min charger for emergencies/times when it just can't wait.

Surely it is cheaper to have an extra set of batteries ready charged.

If I hadn't been given the fast charger I would have agreed completely. I think you're right, but I have been saved on the odd occasion like a big birthday or Christmas when the demand for power get's a bit out of hand :worried: . While I wouldn't have gone out of my way to get one, I've found it useful.

Doesn't seem like a great deal. You can get 4 rechargeables from the likes of Lidl for about £3 sometimes, and you can get a smart charger with digital display and adjustable current for about £20.

Agreed, this is a pretty bad deal. The best deal I can currently find on a good charger is this via Amazon for £15.69 - amazon.co.uk/7da…QI8
And the deal posted a couple of days ago for batterires from Screwfix, £3.49 get you 4 reasonable capacity batteries - hotukdeals.com/dea…735
So, much better charger and batteries for much the same price.

I bought the five minute version of this charger and I am well disappointed as it rejects most of my non Duracell batteries

Check your local Tesco - they had this for £15 at the Miami Hotel (RIP) store.

This looks like the same charger + same low capacity batteries for a few quid less:- 7dayshop.com/bat…ies
And here is a charger with user settable charging current and several modes including a test mode so you can sort your batteries into sets of similar capacity and attempt to recover and throw out the knackered ones @ £20 :- 7dayshop.com/bat…ay Edit: just noticed it's £15.69 on Amazon, and already posted by decanay, which is a real bargain, unlike this duracell one.

Sorry, but I voted cold. 15 minute chargers are a false economy as pointed out earlier. And I've mentioned on other threads that it's not in the interest of battery manufacturers to make their own chargers that prolong the life of batteries. The 7Dayshop smart charger is a great, affordable charger.

But this Duracell isn't a 15 minute charger. The 7dayshop charger will charge quicker than this at it's highest setting. Still a very poor deal, but that's not the reason.
How do these deals go hot? There isn't a single positive comment, yet 300 degrees wtf?
This is NOT a 15 minute charger, it's not a good charger, they aren't good batteries, and it's not even the cheapest price for the product, as pointed out in the comments above  .

I just need a rechargeable charger this one for the price is it not worth buying.
It doesn't have to be fast charging 5-6 hours it doesn't matter as long it can charge any brand rechargeable batteries which one which you recommend and what is wrong with this charger, I have read on the comment section that this won't charge in 15 mins which is fine for me but does it destroy the batteries as well please reply thanks

It might not be a 15-minute charger in practice, but it is being advertised as so.
Also, I completely disagree with your claim that the 7dayshop charger will charge quicker. It can be configured to charge up to a 1-amp current MAX, and by my calculation, that will charge these cells in over an hour. My initial point and commendation of the 7dayshop charger is not in its charging time, but in the way which it monitors the charge state and temperature of each individual cell during the charge cycle, not to mention its ability to recondition cells.
There isn't a single good comment because this is simply a rubbish product. I'd wager the hot up-voting is done by people who see the word "Duracell" and instantly associate that with some sort of value for money.
Wow, never realised battery chargers provoke such strong sentinments. All I can say is that I once had some 7dayshop charger and it turned out to be a slow crap. These newer ones with their screens, bells and whistles might be great but I don't need scientific insight into the process, just want a simple box to stick the batteries in and out while I have a cuppa. Duracell does exactly that, charging two batteries in under 15min as stated – it also works fine with Eneloops, though I can't confirm whether it can use other brands. But hey, it's a charger, it is convenent, saves me a few quid and it is fast enough, though I'm sure there must be better options out there.

Jaymsn, this isn't a case of scientific insight or analytics, but the likelihood of ruining perfectly good batteries (especially Eneloops) and turning them into expensive little paperweights. This charger will destroy them over time, far short of the number of recharge cycles your batteries will have printed on the side.
It won't save you a few quid at all. As stated above, it will do the exact opposite since you will likely have to buy replacement batteries in a year or two from now since the fast charging will have heated them up far beyond their spec and their electrodes fried.
