I don't see how this will work, you need to buy 4 bottles from Tesco to get 20% off but if you only have one receipt I didn't think cos would accept the same receipt more than once, thought it had to be separate reciepts for each time you submit cashback claim per bottle?

you can claim all the bottles in one go, eg ill be getting 6 bottles on 1 receipt.

Tried this last week. Like most flavoured ciders, It's drinkable alco-pop type stuff that hits a spot, but nothing special. For the price, I'll vote hot, but personally I wouldn't bother buying it again, even at this price. Give me a bottle of Aspall's Premier Cru or Westons Vintage over this any day.

Anyone know if this works in conjunction with offers from Tesco (i.e my tesco express does 3 ciders for £5). So Can I buy 6 ciders for a tenner and then get £6 cashback?
Thanks!

Yes it does - mine does 3 for 5.25 - got 3 for this price yesterday and got 3.30 back for Old Mout - that's 195/3 = 65p each

Perhaps putting that it's Cider in the title would help.

When I purchased these at 10pm on 30th, I got 6x Bulmers and 6x Old Mout for just £12.96. I have also submitted my receipt with checkoutsmart which hopefully will pay out £12.60,
So 12 bottles cost 36 pence in total, or 3 pence per bottle!
In order to achieve this price I purchased 7 other unbranded items to qualify for Tesco's Brand Guarantee which provides a generous £7.20 discount in addition to the 20% off 4 or more bottles.
Here's the maths:
6 Bottles of Bulmers @ £2 per bottle = £12 6 Bottle of Old Mout @ £2.20 per bottle = £13.20 ----------------------------------------------- Total price before discount = £25.20
Discounts: Tesco Brand Guarantee = £7.20 20% Off £25.20 = £5.04 cashback from checkoutsmart = £12.60 ------------------------------------------------ Total discount = £24.84 ------------------------------------------------ Total price after discount = £0.36

But how do you work out which of the items are cheaper at other supermarkets compared to Tesco? No matter what I buy the we were cheaper section of the bill never exceeds a pound or two at max - maybe I am missing something - please educate - thanks.

mySupermarket compares prices of virtually every product. You can create and maintain a shopping list on their website to easily check on relative prices of the products across the main supermarkets. Personally, I open checkoutsmart and filter by Tesco and update my saved list on mySupermarket, deleting expired offers and adding new offers. It only takes me a few minutes to do but frequently knocks pounds off my shopping bill.
If you can't be bothered with that, this link will provide an incomplete list of checkoutsmart offers at Tesco, and you can click on any item to see if it is cheaper at another supermarket in order to (potentially) take advantage of Tesco's Brand Guarantee in addition to cashback from checkoutsmart.

But don't you have to pay for the 9 unbranded items taking your overall spend higher and its only the difference you get refunded? Sorry, i have never done this, so might be asking some noob questions here.
Thanks for your patience.

Yes, you pay for the unbranded items. The trick is to purchase unbranded items that you would be purchasing anyway, or the cheapest unbranded items. A small loose banana for example costs about 10p and would count as an item. 10p branded sweets cost the same in all supermarkets so are also a good, low cost option.

Ok so say I buy 9 unbranded items for a quid (give or take) and then add the 4 ciders to qualify for the price promise, why are tesco paying me back 7 quid?

Tesco will compare to Asda, in Asda the offer is 4 bottles for £6. If you buy in multiples of 4 the tesco till sees the competitors price as £1.50 per bottle, so the Brand Guarantee will give 50p per bottle, on top of that you get the 20% off when buying more than 4 bottles or another 40p off per bottle and on top of that CheckOutSmart was giving back £1.00 per bottle purchased up to 6 times. Hence £2 -£0.50(BG) -£0.40(20%) - £1.00(COS) = 10p per bottle. Sadly COS offer has now finished, but if you wish to experiment with the BG it's still quite good at £1.10 per bottle. Don't forget that for the tesco till to see the asda price you need to buy in multiples of 4.

Cashback on Old Mout Cider is no longer available on checkoutsmart, but it should still be possible to get the Bulmer's for 10p a bottle after cashback when you buy exactly 4 bottles in one transaction along with 9 different unbranded items, such as 9 different items of fruit.
You can buy branded items instead of unbranded items, but if they happen to be cheaper in Tesco than in Asda, it will reduce the Brand Guarantee discount. However, if the branded items you add are cheaper in Asda, then it will increase the Brand Guarantee discount.
By the way there are quite a few ciders and beers included in the Asda offer, for example it would be £1.10 per bottle on Budweiser 660ml, Grolsch Premium Lager 450ml, Stella Artois 660ml, Beck's 660ml, San Miguel 660Ml among many others and you can mix and match which is even better as getting different brands means that you need less fillers (loose veg or sweets)

Thanks a lot guys - now it all makes sense to me. Will wait for the next such offer on checkoutsmart and try to benefit from the price match.

£2 x 4 = £8 - 20% = £6.40 - £4 (claimed cashback) = £2.40 / 4 = 60p
