Seems pretty expensive to me. Don't be dazzled by the Bosch name: these won't be any better than decent non-branded drills at a fraction of the price.

I'm after a decent set of drill bits and have tried Bosch, Makita but the still break under normal use. Anyone any ideas what the pros use?

Dewalt, Makita etc. Ryobi set's used to be really good value for money too!

Try Irwin Cobalt bits. I work in an engineering workshop, and these are what I buy. The comment earlier about cheap bits being just as good as more expensive ones is utter rubbish in my opinion. If its wood you're drilling, cheaper bits will suffice.

I know it says metal drill bit set, but can it be used on wood and plasterboard ? Why is it specifically metal?

Metal drill bits usually drill fine into wood and plastics but are made for more precise drilling that metal needs whereas wood drills usually have a pointy spike at the tip for accurate drilling into what could be variable materials (layers of wood), masonary has a bit designed to chew at tough stone like materials which is too blunt for wood and metal.
The best metail drill bits I've come across so far are the quite expensive Dewalt extreme 2 HSS drill set at about £28 from screwfix, they have a very sharp cutting blade and I suspect better than these Bosch but are dearer of course. For bricks/concrete the Dewalt Extreme 2 masonry are my favourites too... far better than most other drills, but dearer.

You don't need to spend big money on drill bits. Literally any cobalt metal drill bits will outlast any hss bits.

Any one tried them ones you see on the shopping channels, were they put them on grindwheel and then drill through metal etc,expensive but, wonder is there some slight of hand? Just checked on Amazon seems there rubbish... amazon.co.uk/16P…007

Well we all have different results, I go with what I've found works for me. I got fed up years ago wasting money on either no brand named tat or even branded tat.... the bundled 101 drill bits you get for £20 from B&D or Makita or even Dewalt aren't much good other than occasional butter drilling.

Gonna put my tin hat on and ask if anyone has bought the large drill bit set with case from aldi yet . Its part of their own range and i only want it for occasional home use. Just a question .
