Nice find but it's a pay & cancel at any time.

I read it as being that if you want to access the records once the free weekend is over, you pay for membership at that point. I signed up on a free weekend a few years back, and I only use my account on these free weekends. Even when it's not a free weekend, I can still log in to my account, view my tree, and add data of my own, like photos I've taken. I can even do searches, and see the results page, although it usually stops me at that point and says I can't view the actual record because I'm not a paid member. They try really hard to tempt me, but have yet to get a penny out of me :relaxed:

They would look at your profile and see you've only posted 1 deal since joining in 2011 and be ashamed

They might like the fact he hasn't been unwittingly making money for Maple Syrup Media and getting nothing in return.

Good posting. I have had paid Ancestry membership in the past. Now use these free weekends to carry on the research and to update my family tree . I Also use FindmyPast when they have free access and don't forget FreeBMD, FamilySearch.org, Findagrave, BillionGraves are all websites that are free access all the time. Remember also that you can download documents e.g. censuses, marriage records etc which are useful to reference when the free period is over. As with these weekends if you are a paid lapsed member and log into your account during these free weekends you will get the access. I think the only thing it won't let you do is access others public trees.

I also use these free Ancestry and use these kinda offers only (i have never paid for any content i have found in my tree) added allot of birth, death, marriage certificate and grave stones photos, I have also scanned in alot of photos from members of the family that have passed and i get emails about 1s a month from people asking for a copy of a family photo(before my time) or my granddad in his army uniform,
I started doing this for my dad how does not know how to use a computer and he find a home phone hard as well. last xmass I got him a Ipad and added Ancestry on it and even time i pop down he is like did you know this about your grate grate granddad. I need remind him i am that one that added the info. he also helped me out with some extra info,
also about 3 months with the Ipad i popped down to find him sitting in his seat with the ipad on the arm watching some WWII thing from youtube. i had to take a 2nd look as my dad was using tech. also till about 6 years ago he did not know how a credit card worked. he used it once and ask the lady to bin it as he had used it next time he was in. my mum asked for cash back and my dad was like why is she giving your money if you are the one buying food.... lol

I've been a non-paying member for a few years and I got the deal. Worth a look if you haven't had the email as I suspect it's universal.

These other suggestions on other sources to look into is also very helpful. I am looking for my uncle who came to the UK from the Caribbean back in the early 70's. He seems to have just vanished off the planet, we have no idea where he is or where to start looking. I have managed to obtain his birth information. All these suggestions are very useful to start looking, please keep them coming. My dad is heartbroken that he has not seen his older brother in over 50 years.
