I have the 43xe800, which I think is the same but with Android. I bought it after returning a Panasonic EX700 due to really poor viewing angles. Sony colour is more punchy as well. The Panny is a great set if you and your family or visitors are going to be sitting directly in front of it. Panny has a VA panel, Sony XE80 series are IPS, at least my 43" is.

An exceptionally high quality picture TV let down by the fact the software STILL is a pile of cr*p, even 4 years in to this range. Hardly even changes channel. Baffles me they haven’t sorted this yet!

How important is the software in your opinion? Assume if you get Sky Q it's not that important?

I've got the 43xd8088 and picture quality is excellent, got it paired with a Yamaha soundbar. There are pros and cons to both VA and IPS, depends how it is going to be used and what environmen

Terrible menu system on my Sony will never buy one again, and they stopped supporting the online programme guide, which was brilliant. Samsung menu so simple.

size is so small that 4K isnt even worth it, you would have to be within a couple feet to see the difference over FHD lol

Having just gone from a 43" FHD TV to a 43" 4K HDR TV.....you need your eyes checked, when viewing a 4k source you can easily spot the difference. Hell you can from a FHD phone to a 4K HDR one at 5.5" (XZ Premium) so you definitely can at 43"

my eyes are great. its a known fact that unless you are within a certain range the eyes will not be able to notice a lot of the extra details.
Agree with he comments re the OS and TV guide, a proper dogs breakfast. Took mine back to JL and got an LG which is so much nicer to use.

This TV will never be OLED. Regardless of the colour of the day.

Have had a 4K (proper 4K) 43" TV for approaching 2 years now. Can't tell the difference between 1080P and 4K sources.
For example I can't tell when Amazon Prime switches up to 4K for The Grand Tour unless I check.
I sit maybe 2.5m away from the TV.
Also don't notice it on youtube where the video has been uploaded by someone who knows what they are doing and gets a high bitrate 1080p video up (as well as a 4k video).
Where there is a big bitrate gap between 4k and 1080p on youtube I do however notice it.
