Gutted I missed out on this, what are the odds of it coming back on at this price? If it's 0, someone better expire this to stop me checking daily and crying.

IPS is significantly better than TN in my experience.
With my Iiyama TN I could never settle on a colour calibration.
IPS for life now.

I asked for first hand experience, also stating I knew the above - anyone can read a data sheet but i'd like to know someone's actual experience using both panel types....

From my experience, high quality TN panels reproduce colour pretty much as well as a standard IPS panel, however once you stop looking head-on, the colour (and the rest of the picture) begin to fade a fair amount. You're unlikely to really notice it on a comparatively small monitor like this.

I have a Dell Ultrasharp (IPS) and a BenQ 144Hz (TN). Typically colours are better on an IPS, but I believe there are plenty of TNs these days with serviceable colours. IPS also have much superior viewing angles. TN have better response times and less backlight bleed.
Really depends what you want, personally I would recommend IPS unless you want the higher refresh and faster response times. So basically if you play a lot of Counter Strike get a 144Hz TN, otherwise get an IPS.

guys what are your thoughts on IPS vs TN, everyone keeps telling me to go IPS...I know about response times etc and backlight, colours etc but would love to hear first hand the difference

IPS panels has better colour reproduction and much better viewing angles, also fast response time.

some may say 23" for 1440p is too small, but i wouldnt know. Still out of my price range but heat nonetheless

I have voted hot as it is a good deal but I would have probably bought it if it was 27". 1440p IMO is too high for 24" as you say.

I don't know why this is getting almost no heat. This is is a highly rated monitor and is an absolute steal at this price.
144 - 165 hz G-sync 1440p
Sure its a TN Panel and sub 27" (which I would argue is too big for gaming anyway) but this retails for over £400 at Amazon (with a lowest ever price of £398 according to camelcamelcamel).
I've been looking for a quality monitor with these specs so I immediately jumped on this one the moment I saw the notification. Great value for money and a package you would be hard-pressed to find for the sub £300 price tag.

Lets argue. Displays are never too big for gaming

IPS or TN? Just got myself an Asus PG279Q and I have to say going from a Dell 24" 1080p TN, the Asus is amazing
Edit. Just checked its TN
Not keen on the new look site btw

I am wrong. I read the post as 144hz 1080p IPS. My mistake.

When will the XB271HU drop in price, it dropped under £500 when I started looking at IPS' and now its around £600 and has remained so. I'm looking everyday for a drop, should have bit the bullet when its 500!

Sorry, but they've been around since 2015. eg. Acer Predator XB271HU, ASUS ROG PG279Q

Yes they do, I have one. Check out the specs on the Asus PG279Q, and it also overclocks to 165hz. Brilliant monitor, the colours and viewing angles compared to a TN are a lot better
