The hellgates are opening! This weekend only, all Xbox Live Gold members can enjoy Blizzard Entertainment’s action RPG Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition for free as part of Xbox Live Gold’s Free Play Days.
Beginning at 12:01 a.m. PST on Thursday, July 27 and running through 11:59 p.m. PST on Monday, July 31, Xbox Live Gold members in Xbox One markets will get a special opportunity to fight back against the hordes of evil. During this time you can also purchase Diablo III: Eternal Collection, the latest version of Diablo III that includes the new Necromancer class and all content from Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition, from the Xbox Store at a 35% off to continue playing after Xbox Live Gold’s Free Play Days concludes. If you decide to come back to Diablo III later, all of your saved progress and earned achievements will remain.
Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition contains both Diablo III and the Reaper of Souls expansion set, together in one definitive volume. Rise as one of humanity’s last defenders – Crusader, Barbarian, Witch Doctor, Demon Hunter, Monk, or Wizard – and collect legendary loot while mastering devastating new powers and abilities.
Play solo or form a party of up to four other heroes through local split-screen multiplayer or with your friends online. Lay waste to hordes of evil throughout all five acts of the Diablo III storyline, or explore the open world in Adventure Mode to hunt bounties on the elder evils that lurk throughout the mortal realms.
You can download Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition by clicking on the Gold Member area on the home dashboard or downloading directly from the Xbox Store.
Maybe you should clarify that it's free to play and not free to own.

I would have said that was obvious... everyone that owns an xbox and pays for live would know the deal with free weekends....
Id agree if my Aunt Doris was reading it she might feel mislead or confused but she isnt into Diablo.... she is more of a dark souls lass...

Added it to title, but the description had more than enough clarification

Nope, I agree it needs clarifying. I own an Xbox One but don't generally use Live. This initially made me think the game was free.

I checked with my Aunt Doris and she said she understood from the blurb underneath and I quote...
"Millennials should learn to read more than just the headline/heading...."
and then mutter something about blame twitter and attention span no longer than 140 characters...
I personally think she is being harsh...
but maybe she has a point...

Lately with xbox and playstation giving games away every month i at first did think i could download it and play a week from now as long as i still had gold because that does seem to be the trend lately. Only thought free weekends was a steam thing.

So can you no longer buy Ultimate Evil Edition on its own anymore? Been waiting for that to drop in price for a while and not that fussed about buying Eternal Collection just for the Necromancer addon.

Yeah I think its gone. Seems to be the trend for blizzard to pull the original editions to artificially keep the price high.
You cant get the original 360 diablo digitally anymore either.
You would have to get a disk copy.
