Cocked up my initial order, demanded a credit check before accepting the replacement order (treating me like I was trying to defraud them, when it was their system that went wrong), and denied me the Quidco cashback I was due.

Then proceeded to bill me the wrong amount each month (overcharged) three months in a row, despite me calling them every month and them promising me they'd fix it.

Easily the worst company I've ever dealt with for customer service.

\I had the same problem as damadgeruk in the end I went through resolver which was then escalated to the ombudsman. Ended up with a new smart ultra 7 kept my ultra 6 that had the screen glue problem. And the ombudsman ordered them to send me a written apology and £30. My advice is to go through resolver it's really easy don't let Vodafone give you the runaround.

Apologies, I confess that I didn't consider your issues regarding the use of emojis when leaving my flippant remark to another member.

Not an issue for me, I'd go the Xiaomi route and keep the spare £80ish in my bank in case of warranty issues. I get that people love to buy insurance, I'm not one of them.
N.B. I have insurance where legally required and for my buildings and contents(no accidental).

Already?, wow!.

I was physically in a Three Store in Ilford at some point during the mid-week of last week ...

And that Network 3 Store HAD physical stock.

Network 3 are the one's that are currently blowing these out at the moment ...

May be worth physically popping into one of their Stores too at some point? (like I did at some point last week), as you clearly never know ...

Leave those online 'options' alone for a wee bit too perhaps?. :-)
damadgeruk
5 Jul 17 #71
If you can locate one, it may indeed. Unfortunately there's no stock online, apparently discontinued.

Maybe a UK based, unlocked/SIM free Lenovo P2 with 4gb of ram, and 32gb of internal memory for not much more than this, may possibly be a better bet for some perhaps? (just shy of £200!), or .....

IMO no, though it depends on the usage. Does your dad need NFC or 3GB RAM or 1080 screen? If not, the Vodafone ZTE Blade a512 is a possible contender and only £69 if you manage to find a Vodafone representative willing to sell it without the £10 top up (I did). Previous thread...

3 Jul 17 1 #18
Customer service is shocking IME. Tried telling me they couldn't repair my Smart Ultra 6 as I no longer used the PAYG SIM it came with, then said it was out of warranty(18 months old) though website clearly states 2 years. Eventually replaced it with the Smart Ultra 7 saying it was an upgrade (it's not). Check the Smart Ultra 6 threads here, I'm not alone.
All customer service departments have issues though I find Vodafone terrible. (I'm with 3 and have no issues - others despise 3).

jazzuk777 to ferglar

For £120 the Moto G5 o2 offer might be better than chinese if the camera is important - seems like with 'chinese' options they are good specs but generally fall down on the camera...

2 year warranty is great, no doubt though it has been very rare for me to use warranty. I'm going to carry on without the expense of insurance and stick with Xiaomi. I can buy two or three for the cost of the equivalent Samsung.
noirnaranja
3 Jul 17 2 #11
The CPU in this phone is really not very good, definitely not at this price. I know buying from China isn't for everyone but a Redmi 4 is about the same spec as this and at least £60 cheaper

Yeah I got the update too and it completely transformed by SU6 for the better. The SU6 has served me well for the last two years but the camera is atrocious. Just recently purchased an S7 edge to get a phone with a better camera. If a camera isn't a big deal for you, get the SU7.

Seems good to me depending how easily it can be unlocked.
Any ideas in the antutu score?
How does it compare to the smart platinum 7
chancooluk to little_green
3 Jul 17 #5
The Platinum 7 has a significantly better quality screen (QHD AMOLED), and processor Snapdragon 652 vs 435 in the V8. The only downfall of the Platinum 7 is that it's still on Marshmallow, albeit with security patches to June 2017.
damadgeruk

Snapdragon 435, seems expensive compared to Vodafone ZTE Blade a512 at £69(assuming you manage to avoid the £10 top up as I did).
