This is a 1080p (Full HD) model not 4K, check the model number on Sonys website.

We know, it says full HD in the title.

Seriously? People would opt for a near 500 quid 1080 tv in 2017 when there are some stonking 4K tv deals around at similar price points?

will get people saying them 4k tvs are not as good as 2k 4k tvs however I agree, even 1080p content looks better on my 500£ samsung 4k tv

"Stonking 4k tv deals" around now are for low end 4K, a quick look in the comments section of the 4K deals will show you the problems people are having with these. This is a high end HD set, one of the best available.

Resolution is a complete non-issue on a TV of this size unless you're sitting at a desk and using it as a computer monitor.

£100 cheaper than the nearest competition, so on that basis alone it has to be hot.

Look up the 55" Phillips posted here. It's not a high end 4K model but it's certainly better than this high end 1080 TV, it's also much bigger.

The title for this has been edited since I posted my comment.

I don't think it has. I saw it pretty much as soon as it was posted and it said full HD. I would've gotten all flustered if there was even a shred of hope it was 4K, but I didn't.

Not for gaming it isn't. Just because it's 4K doesn't make it automatically a better TV

It's not as simple as that. Whilst the Philips 55PUS6401 that regularly pops up on here is undoubtedly good value, not everyone wants or needs a screen of that size, nor do people always base what to buy on the basis of finding the biggest possible screen size for a particular price. The Philips you mention has an IPS panel and if this Sony is equipped with a VA panel (as used in the previous WD753) that may be an important consideration to someone that prefers better black levels vs the wider viewing angles of IPS.
