Just to make people aware, argos returns outside of 30 days are a nightmare.
I bought the 55" Philips that was on here the other week for £449
It had vertical banding and i wanted to return it.
Argos wanted me to ring a phillips number
Philips wanted me to download an image, test it, send a picture to them, send a video, send my soul etc.
They would then send an engineer to confirm.
They would then give me an RMA number
I can then give this to Argos to replace the TV blah blah
Long story short, i had it a week, said i didn't like it (within 30 days) and got my money back. I won't be buying another from them due to this hassle and the fact vertical banding is common, i want someone with good returns like amazon...

My procedure (Philips TV bought in September, stopped working in April) was to tell Argos I'd already spoken to Philips and been through troubleshooting. I said the last thing I wanted was to have to take the TV off the wall, and that I'd tried everything I could to get it working as I don't need the hassle. They asked if Philips had given me any reference and I said they hadn't, but I didn't realise I'd need any. They said that was ok and put me through to tech support. I explained this again to them and they were very nice and almost immediately gave me a dedicated RMA number to show to the store. I bought mine in a store directly so had to return it myself. Had I purchased with FastTrack they would have just delivered a new one and collected the old one. Unfortunately at the time there were none in stock so I got a full refund. I've since picked up the 55" model and mounted it in my bedroom. It looks ridiculous but is fabulous.
I wouldn't have any concerns about Argos, personally. My 55" TV had faulty wifi and Bluetooth when it arrived on Sunday too - I rang them and they sent a new one on the next available delivery slot the same day. Certainly don't think I'd get that sort of service from Currys.

Yes they will deliver the new one, and collect the old one when they do.

Well it depends where you live. Just speak to argos and they will send you one when they restock which i'm told is every 3-5 days.

Odd you should say that as I had to return my original Philips TV after six months and I had no problems whatsoever. I just told them I'd already spoken to Philips who hasn't been able to fix the problem, they put me through to a technical department who gave me a returns number and even their name in case there were any issues. Ended up getting a full refund.

Absolutley agree, told me to contact the manufacturer too this after sending me 2 consecative used tv's clearly , some had returned both of them , seals cut and re-taped , accsecories un done batteries in the remote .. etc, the third one was clearly faulty banding and massive back light bleed issues, told to contact manufacturer .
When i wrote to them on facebook saying that this was not my responsibility , they accepted it, but said contact them anyway.finally i had to tell them i am contacting trading standards, this did the trick tv was collected the nextday no doubt they flogged it on to another unsuspecting soul.
Just to let others know for the first 6 months if a fault occurs it is deemec to have been present at purchase it is up to the retailer to prove otherwise, more details Link remember even after 6 months it is the retailer who has to contact the manufacturer on your behalf not the customer
Argos are famous for fobbing off customers and trying to off load them to the manufacturer , i would never ever use Argos for a TV ever again , if possible not even for a small purchase .

No I wasnt but i think that might be one of the picture settings on the tv. I spoke to Samsung and it seems alot of hassle to get a new stand when that might not even solve the problem. So i'm just getting a replacement from Argos later this week.If it has the same issue, then I'll try a new stand.

I've done it both ways and still the same issue. Not sure how doing it a different order would make any difference since there is an issue with both parts not being secure.
Nathguitarman
9 Jul 17#67
And doing that fixed the wobbling issue? How would it make a difference? I swear the quick guide i had with mine said the other way around too lol.

That smaller part to the Tv first and then big stand as the manual say.

Nathguitarman
9 Jul 17#64
What Order are you meant to do it in? I did base > plastic, then that > tv and it was still the same. It was because one corner of the plastic > tv part wouldnt screw in tightly and it made it wobble / unclip.
mikefrom82
9 Jul 17#63
I thought the same but when I checked the manual I set up the stand in wrong order.

9 Jul 17#61
I had that, i tried multiple ways to secure it but it was always wobbly and unclicked at the bottom of the stand. I've sent it back for a replacement as it just doesn't feel safe to me. Apparently a common problem with Samsung stands.

When you guys got 6100 instead, did you get the proper receipt for the new model? If not, you might be in trouble when you repair the tv under the warranty.

8 Jul 171#58
If you have problems with a product it is up to the retailer to sort it out and not the manufacturer! Your contract is with them. Don't accept a repair on a new product as it will reduce your ability to reject the goods at a later date!

I got mU6100 . As for me the picture is amazing and the sound is great - but I know some of you complain. Love the voice remote. However I recently started to have movie ads by TVplus on my home screen, which is so annoying. Samsung promissed to sort it out, so hopefuly soon.

I've no idea if the tv has it or not but don't rely solely on Argos Q&A. The answers given can be highly inaccurate and, if the same question is asked twice, the answers can differ! Try to check it out using as alternative source if you can before committing to buy.

Banding on this tv is horrific.
I had it and you cant watch anything with light scenes. it there when gaming too. Football is completely unwatchable.
I got it from an eBay shop a while back and was lucky enough to have them accept it back. I'm not an expert and had never even heard of banding till I got this tv.
I ended up just spending a bit more and got a curved 4k sony tv. Picture quality is amazing....but android is crap.

The spec on Argos and Amazon doesn't specify this TV has Freeview 'HD' tuner built in, only Freeview. Now I thought all new TV's were FV HD as standard, so unless they're missing the HD off 'cos it's now the norm I don't know, but I'd be very p*ssed off if I bought this and it wasn't a HD tuner - especially given the 4k screen etc.
Can anybody offer any clarity here?

Is this one of those 4K HDR set that says HDR but doesnt really do HDR? I really struggle with 4K TV specs on most websites, as im told I should look for 10 bit panels not 8bit since they are not true HDR??? I would assume 10 bit panels are alot more costly.

I have the top model in the 6 series but curved. It's a amazing tv, although sound wise it's quite. Not sure why, however spent £800 on a sorround sound, but whilst waiting for it to arrive and install, the Tv even at 100 volumes level is low, compared to my Sony. However, all sorted after installing the home cinema system. Also, it's only with TV channels, but doesn't really make a difference in YouTube or any other program. I've researched online and even called Samsung, I was told there is a volume option which I already found prior to contacting support, which didn't make much difference.

Forget AO, in your first 12 months you'll be dealing with Samsung customer service and they're based in the Philippines, the communication barrier is difficult. It's taken me 6 weeks to prove I own the TV and schedule an engineer. If Samsung give me the return code (which I want as I think this TV is pants), AO are more than happy to refund. Even Richer Sounds default to Samsung service in first 12 months.
