Ive got a little bit of light bleed at the bottom as Samsung moved the lighting LEDs from side to the bottom to allow it to blast out a full 1000 nits. A lot of non-HDR content doesnt utilise the local dimming so you can get very washed out blacks. On true HDR content you should get quite nice blacks, not perfect like OLED but definitely very deep, even though there is some slight clouding and bleed at the bottom.

My suggestion is to look at HDR content with a lot of black content like a movie intro, turn local dimming on, intelligent backlighting, also I find if you go into eco mode and turn down the energy consumption to medium its still very bright, especially in a dark room but the blacks are vastly better, in fact in pitch black at maximum energy saving where you dont need a blinding 1000nits, you get a very deep, near perfect black.

I watched this in 4k HDR 1,000nits with all the bells and whistles on my 65" KS9000 and it was without doubt the finest video footage I've ever seen. To be quite frank without wanting to sound rude, you really do need the right hardware or eyesight to appreciate the detail here. I paused the video at multiple points and it was like seeing a DSLR photo. Watching this on a great telly is like watching DSLR photos in motion. It really is something special. If you want to show off your high end telly, nothing at all beats this series of visual spectacle. Those of you who have seen this series in its full glory will appreciate this.

Verdict - phenomenal picture quality!

Yes, I've seen it when broadcast originally, but in HDR it's poles apart from terrestrial HD viewing.

Good deal!.
Base haven't got the best reputation but they are ok'ish, and considering this is £29.99 at Amazon this is great value. There is Blu-Ray discs in there as well for those who haven't yet got a 4k player and TV (Myself included).
You are future proofed.
Apparently though the desert episode is not 4K because the desert was too hot for the filming with the specialised 4K cameras.
You wouldn't know it though, the cinematography is outstanding.
