Have Alexa or my phone to turn them on if the battery dies.
I think the changing bulbs isn't really an issue as these bulbs last 10-15k hours

Yes, and fitting lots of GU10s is expensive!
I suggest LightWaveRF for this.
It is a switch itself rather than individual bulbs... Wireless connection with Google and all other home assistants. Means you keep your existing bulbs and it's cheap to replace when they pop.
Make sure they're dimmable GU10s though or you'll get some horrible buzz.

I ordered one whilst it was still in stock, but it's been delayed as I think Amazon miscounted what they actually had. These dimmers are out of stock pretty much everywhere. The only place that seems to have them is screwfix for £19.99.
I'm making my own design that doesn't cover the whole socket plate. I will upload it to thingiverse when finished.
Saw that, I got the last one online. Thanks

I have purchased the 3D printed plate from a popular online auction site that fits over existing faceplates and when the remote is removed still allows access to the switch. While it adds a little bulk it certainly suits my needs, looks the part and is almost always a talking point when anyone spots them, that they are 3D printed seems to get people talking!

I didn't go for that option. I actually was considering losing the switch completely in a recent kitchen refurb, but there are work arounds, some not so pretty, others expensive. I think given time, there will be a reasonably priced proper solution.
As you have gone down the blanking plate route, I believe it's possible to buy some strong magnets and glue them to the back of the blanking plate so the hue dimmer can attach to the plate.

If you've got IOS and can use IConnectHue then yes you are. I am always losing my phone in the house but the light switch is attached to my bedside cabinet. It's a bit defunct for me now as my new toy, the Echo dot does all I need, but my off button is set so that after a certain time in the evening a long press switches of bedroom light, and a normal press gradually turns the light off over x amount of minutes. You can also scroll through all different scenes using the on button, in fact Connect Hue opens up loads of options. A well worthwhile purchase
I was looking to replace existing switch plate, and there are possibilities out there.

The downside to this is that you then have to switch off the fuse board to change a light bulb/lose the ability to turn these on quickly if the battery dies.

I have LED GU10 bulbs in my ceiling that I'd like to turn off using my google home.

It's a remote control that you can only link to Hue.

Seems an odd shape for a light switch. Do these things fit flush, or do you need to knock chunks out of your wall?

They are wireless they stick on your wall and the buttons come off like a remote it's magnetic.. lets you keep your hard wired switches as backups

Thanks just downloaded - looks like its going to do everything i need from my Hue setup. Just a shame that Philips couldn't create something similar. They've really missed a trick there

Also I would strongly recommend iConnectHue app as it really lets you control these dimmer switches with custom commands.
