Buyer beware, DK1 "support" ended ages ago. They're a pain to get up and running in Windows 10 and not much modern VR will work
That's on top of the resolution issues. You know how people complain the resolution of PSVR and Rift isn't up to scratch? They're over 2x the resolution of DK1

I appreciate that this may not be ideal for gaming. But for the 3D painting and stuff would it be sufficient?

The DK2 seems a little better in that respect, but they're around £100 these days, not instant-buy territory.

Not for me as i can use my phone as VR and its Ultra HD even for games.
Would prefer to wait till new tech, get polished experience and use UHD for now as couldn't do with the low resolution.
Definitely can see why people are interested though as some phone VR headsets are this price alone. Also for those who are on a strict budget.
Still think its a good deal though

Bought, because I want to try out vr for a substantial time and this is 10th the price of the current gen that is going to be obsolete in 2018, at the very least to what they will have on demo at events.

My nvidia 750gti doesn't meet requirements :disappointed:
Coming from the same shop that sells what they call an "ULTRA FAST Quad Core Gaming PC" That's just an AMD A8 7600 with no graphics card, just its crappy onboard igpu. I mean the headsets are probably fine. But if there's an issue.. The kinda shops that pull this crap are generally less reputable.

Old oculus developers kit only any good for keeping as a memento of what is the past in vr , retro gaming etc, motion sickness was quite common with these and the reason many people sold them on including myself, google cardboard would be a cheaper and far better and cheaper way to experience what vr can do now unless you want to go down the route of vive etc.
But at £32 quid tempted just to stick it in a cupboard lol.

Come up with a bunch of reasons why you shouldn't get it but then still express an interest in buying. The epitome of a HUKD user.

Lawnmower man style VR. **** it, why not? Better to waste £40 than £400.

I wouldn't buy this if you want to actually experience good VR. It's very low resolution, no low persistence, only 60hz, no positional tracking, lacking software support, terrible screen door effect.
It's worth a buy as a collector's item for VR enthusiasts, though.

All the buy it now units are gone.
A few auction units left, though with the now finite supply (and £40 price cap gone), I expect the prices will gradually rise.
I managed to snag one of the auctions for £33
Still not sure what I'm going to do with it; have a play then resell to cex? or keep it sealed bnib as a collectors item?
Probably the former

I just hope it doesn't put any of you off VR for life if you haven't tried it before. Resolution is really low, will be like running your eyeball over a cheese grater. One of the biggest complaints about high end VR is the resolution isn't high enough.

Considering that you'll pay over £20 for one of those terrible smartphone-mount "VR headsets" which feel like you're looking through a pair of binoculars backwards, this is an absolute steal. With any luck it should appreciate in value over the coming years as well. Bought without hesitation.

I have a DK2 and i must say the reports of nothing working on it are rubbish. i have tried every free and a couple of paid games that don't require the touch controllers and 100% of them have worked, however the DK1 is much older and uses older architecture so there could be issues, personally i would go for a £70 DK2 off ebay.
Now I'm just looking for good stuff to try with it!
Think I might have to finally pick up Elite Dangerous, as my favourite VR game so far is House of the Dying Sun.
Definitely a worthwhile purchase for VR uninitiated like myself, wanting to test the water; motion sickness is definitely an issue after prolonged use though. Quite tiring actually.
After trying the DK1 i've come to the conclusion that consumer VR still isn't quite there yet for a good percentage of the population. Namely those who wear glasses and don't have a pimple head :stuck_out_tongue:
For novelty value alone this is worth £40, and it will probably even work on a GTX750.

Only gotcha is that you have to download the legacy 0.8 Oculus drivers.
