I've bought 2 sets of these in previous deals and all 4 talk together faultlessly. Pretty decent speed and have given me no bother at all. One of the kids uses one on her gaming PC and no complaints. Handy having the passthrough port.
Details:
* Extremely fast speed - up to 1200 Mbps (obviously take that with a pinch of salt) * Connect multiple adapters to expand your gigabit wired or Wi-Fi network reliably * Multiple data streams (MIMO) with beamforming technology offer improved coverage throughout the home * Setup in minutes, no need to configure or install software * Provides an extra outlet and improves the overall powerline network performance * Encrypts powerline network connections with the touch of a button * Automatically powers down when not in use
wHAT i do to get the best connex speeds is interpose a gigabit switch between the router and the rest of the network so that two devices on the network will achieve the best speed and not be limited by the router (BT homeHub4, so only fast 100Mbps ports, HH5 has gigabit ports) Switches are very inexpensive... I'm sure someone could post a deal for an 8 port switch for thruppence:smirk:

I know. I was just generalising since the marketing PR's want to advertise these as 1200Mbps. It's essentially the same kind of PR stunt that internet providers pull where they offer speeds of 100MB+ and when you line test it, it's more like 60 or 70.

Any views on which brand is best? These are a good price atm but if willing to wait and compromise on pass through then they seem to be reduced a bit more at times.
Also that seems to be for zyxel... Are these more reliable?

I have had 2 pairs of these for quite a while now. Marketing numbers aside I get a perfect connection and they are life changing in comparison to Wifi. I thought I would also note if you have a spare router these can be used as a bridge to extend your range

sorry slacker misread no if you are using 200mbps to pair then no you will only get 200mbps you would need all 3 adapters to be a gigabit connection

to steve_berzerker, you dont really get 1200mbps with a gigabit connection (usually as gigabit is 1000mbps. 1000mbps will be dependent on your router and if it supports it and keep in mind this is transfer rate not your download speed. example if you were transferring files between devices on your network then your transfer speed will be 1000mbps so copying a film or a 4k video should only take you a matter of seconds to download/copy rather than a few hours but this will depend on your operating system if it can support the transfer rate(usually older devices won't be able to).
to slacker . Your connection should be faster as gigabit Ethernet connection will give you 1000mbps but this will depend on your router supports 1000base T which is a gigabit connection . if it doesn't then you will only get 100mbps connection so there would be no point . usually a spec list of your router should be able to tell you . usually it's listed as 10/100/1000 base t or something to that effect . if it has the 1000 listed then it supports gigabit connections.

I've got three 200Mbps adapters set up at the moment. If I replace two with these would the connection between those two be faster and only the 200Mbps adapter slower or both connections slower.

Thanks, I can connect via wifi but the speeds are too slow for the file sizes (multiple gigs sometimes) so a wired solution will work much better

Mine are 200 Mbps, is it worth upgrading to these as I note that my download speeds using current homeplugs are approx. half the download speed when I plug in my wi-fi dongle? Or am I limited by the size of my house and the electricity loops?

As is often the case with Homeplug gear, is the quoted 1200 Mbps a total of up AND down capacity on these?

As is always the case with these you'll never get any where near 1200Mbps. 'Tis but a pipe dream.

I could do with a couple of these so I don't have to keep using a USB stick to transfer large files between my laptop and PC in the study
Yep - It's quite obvious though really - trying to push 1200Mbps through an adapter which only outputs 300Mbps is obviously not going to work.

Can I use these with my existing Comtrends? Is it possible to mix and match "Powerline" adapters, even though they're different manufacturers?

Yup but iirc speed wise you're stuck at the rate of the slowest equipment.

Daft question: one of these goes near the router, i get that - but if i the other one of these in the room where i dont get wifi, does this turn it into a hotspot?

No this is for a wired connection, Amazon description tells you all you need to know. You maybe able to plug in a router as an access point for WiFi though. Failing that maybe look at the wireless version of this product

Great deal and ordered to add to my current setup, I've been using these for while and they have been excellent.
