I have been looking at the nest or the hive, but was told hive doesn't seem to work in Ireland that well. So now the nest is at a price I can afford and will go well with the dots I just bought.

that's a really good price. There are many guides online how to install. combi boilers are the easiest to install to, as its just 2 wires to the boiler.
after almost 12 months of using it i can recommend, reliable and works well

Seems to be back up to £198..50 now (silver). Black one is £211.48.
Yeah click the 'view offer' on the right.... only the silver is discounted, really wanted the copper, but for £135 I don't mind silver :smiley:
Pity the stand has gone back up to £29 :disappointed:

my friend got one for £90 on ebay so I checked and it is possible to get one for 90 used or 110 brand new on ebay past few months so gonna skip on this deal.

i don't know any installers, but I do have to say looks really simple to do . even the instruction manual explains it pretty well . I was going to get my neighbour to do it but after looking I might just do it myself

Hoping I could get some advice.
Currently have no thermostat in the house, just TRVs. It's an open vented gravity system with an old Potterton Suprima boiler and Honeywell programmer in the garage, and a hot water cylinder in an airing cupboard upstairs.
Will have an electrician and plumber in for a few days in a couple of weeks as the ground floor is being remodelled, so I could ask one to add installation to their work.
Is this the only item I would need to buy (i.e £134.99) to get a wireless thermostat up and running? I'm assuming if I can buy this myself it will be a heck of a lot cheaper than the supply cost from a plumber in a few weeks.

yes, it includes the 'heat link' which wires to the boiler, the nest thermostat and a charger, no stand though. so everything you need
Might be worth asking the plumber to wire as i'm guessing they do it more often than an electrician. Electrician might also want to add a fuse spur which is not a bad thing to do.

Shame this ships in the 'certified frustration free packaging' as I've not long bought one of these from Screwfix, now fitted. Could have bought this and returned it :disappointed:

Yea seems to be over. Hope this thread helped some people, including myself. A couple of things that I liked about the nest from what I can see was the proximity sensor. The nest display turns on as you approach it and its display is supposed to be very clear, and also its learning ability is supposed to be very good once you get it up and running.. Kinda looking forward to getting it now

Looking forward to getting mine too, not sure I have confidence for self install though. Currently have a basic thermostat on the wall but swear it doesn't even work.

installed mine last night, DIY.. it was very easy to do, just took my time and mapped out where each wire went and then connected it into its place.. only thing I had a problem with, is that it wouldn't find my WiFi on upstairs hub, but worked on downstairs hub. signal just about reaches it with that hub. definitely easier than I thought
