So I was looking in this thread (http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/msi-gtx-1070-8gb-quick-silver-311-43-prime-members-only-2-3-week-2734468) for a MSI GTX 1070 for a decent price but needed prime to get it. Then I spotted this GTX 1060 for a decent price as well, doesn't need prime to buy it.
Specs: GeForce® GTX 1060 6GT OCV1 Core Clocks: 1759 MHz / 1544 MHz Memory Clock Speed: 8008 MHz Memory: 6GB GDDR5 (192-bit) Output: DisplayPort (Version 1.4) / HDMI (Version 2.0) / DL-DVI-D HDCP Support: 2.2 Power consumption: 120 W Power connectors: 6-pin x 1 Recommended PSU: 400 W Card Dimension(mm): 243 x 115 x 39 mm Weight (Card / Package): 556 g / 905 g
PD: At the end I chose the GTX 1070, I'm going broke

Perhaps I voted cold in haste.
I've just learned that it has Military Class 4 Components

This vs a gtx 970? How much better is it?

1060 is generally a roughly 20% boost but with VRAM intensive games there will likely be a bigger boost thanks to the extra memory on the 6GB card, though if you only use 1080P that might not be an issue on many games....

I would say 10%-15%, some games might get more fps than others. I would keep the gtx 970 and wait for the next gen because imo it's still capable to play latest games with decent settings, unless you are playing in very high resolution like ST3123 said.
Very similar to the gtx 970. If you are deciding between the gtx 1060 and rx 570, it depends on the price of the rx 570, personally I would go for the gtx 1060 because it has 6gb unless you can find a rx 570 cheaper with stock.

The RX570 4GB is £180 and the RX580 4GB is £210, leaning towards the 580
