Gah, already got a hub from the hub and dot deal a few months back, wondering if it's worth getting this deal and then selling the hub on its own later?!

Elite or ultimate , which is the better

Elite

Elite I believe.

Yep, the ultimate is really just the touch from six years ago and is a bit of an ergonomic disaster although I love mine.

What works better with this? Echo or Dot?

can this control a pc?

11 Jul 171#48
Yes it can - as long as it's Windows and it has Bluetooth. You use the app on a tablet or phone to move the cursor, but once you're in something like Kodi you can just use the keys on the remote itself.

Isnt remote useless if app has it all same on phone or use amazon dot to control with voice ?

The Hub has it's uses. Useful with Echo if not a bit annoying to use it.
mattk to RUGAAL
11 Jul 17#12
The remote is far from useless. Best remote you will ever use. you won't want to control a TV with a phone using two hands and having to look at a screen. Also voice control with Alaxa is absolutely rubbish.

Thanks, the names confuse me, as ultimate sounds like it's the better
Ordered to replace my 700, as I missed any deals on this over this last few years

Only annoying thing is no number pad on the remote! Put me off using it when I bought it black friday so sold on (for a profit)...

The Hub on its own is £53.99, would be wanting this for Alexa but is it worth the extra £60 for the remote?
b1g1an to Scazza
11 Jul 17#22
The remote is a bargain for £113 so treat the hub as a free bonus. Don't know what happened to harmony prices but everything seems to have doubled in price in the last couple of years and it's the same in the US so nothing to do with the money markets.

Does this one works with Hisense TVs? My harmony touch doesn't work to switch inputs properly

Yes, I have Elite and it works with my 65 inch Hisense M7000 for all the basic functions except few.

Do the favourite channels, as most of the time that's how I used my 700

Has to be "wife friendly".... How many favourites can you add... ?

Can't remember exactly but way more than you'll need, I added just about everything you'd actually watch on the full sky package and am not anywhere near the limit.

11 Jul 17#21
Hmm, I already have a 650 that works perfectly well but I so want this lol!
Those that have it why is the Alexa integration poor? Surely basic things like "Alexa watch tv" would work fine?

Pairing is a nightmare, once done voice control is okay, you have to say "tell Harmony to..........", there is a proper smart home skill in the US but not the UK.
Problem is, once you've said "Tell harmony to start watch TV", you then need the remote to navigate any onscreen UI. Much easier to just pick up the remote.

There's a number pad on the touchscreen (swipe across)

I have the Harmony Touch but have picked one of these up to upgrade, I personally find the Alexa integration pretty good - it's not perfect but it does what I need it to.

Never knew that! Thanks... bought it again

11 Jul 17#26
Lol, I thought you meant you meant it hadn't got hard number keys and you didn't like the touch screen ones
You probably will think they're a bit rubbish to start with but persevere and you'll get used to them. The haptic feedback you get with the 950 over my touch probably helps though... Damn it, just ordered one!

Bought one last year for £130 on another excellent daily deal. It's brilliant. Wanted another hub for the other room, instead I get a whole set for even less! Thanks OP.

I bought the ultimate from a previous Amazon deal for £65. It is still boxed. Is it worth ebaying it and buying this one? Just looking at the pictures the ultimate looks nicer and more modern to me
b1g1an to sam1970
11 Jul 17#29
Nope, the 950 is the newest remote with more features and minus the dubious ergonomics, eg transport buttons at the top when it is heavily shaped and waited towards the bottom. You got an amazing deal but you won't regret getting this one.

11 Jul 171#30
It's far too easy to miss... I managed fine with favourite channels for ages, then had to google it when the Sky box asked me for a PIN

Was so close to buying this until I saw that it doesn't integrate with Hive. Seems a bit of a faux pas considering there are more Hive customers than Nest in the UK.
b1g1an to painty
11 Jul 17#33
It supports IFTTT which in turn supports Hive, though I would've thought it was better controlled through Alexa or Google Home/Assistant anyway.

Does this work with Google home to turn on the TV etc?
cgsrimi to mario999
11 Jul 171#44
Based on my experience with the Harmony Ultimate, not natively, which is terrible because it's fully compatible with Google Home in the US. Customer service has been good awful when asked to explain and provide a timeline.
Apparently you can use ITTT in combination to allow some basic actions.

So would I be able to set up a favourite on the remote that turns the tv on, launches netflix and dims the lights at the same time?

Had to buy at this price been meaning to get one for a long while
b1g1an
11 Jul 17#37
I personally don't have any experience of this version as yet, and won't before the deal runs out, but that's the way you build Activities so in theory yes. Not working with your hardware is as good an excuse for returning as any so why not give it a go.
b1g1an
11 Jul 17#39
For the peeps who are saying they can't get some things to work, assuming they work the same as they always used to, you can contact them directly and they'll endeavour to sort it out for you, at worst you can just use the IR learning function to dupe it.

11 Jul 171#40

Sorry, but how do you use a Harmony remote to control Alexa / Echo?
I thought the point of Alexa was that it's voice activated, or am i missing something here?
Confirm I use IFTT with the ultimate remote and google home to turn on and off activities.

No longer available :disappointed: Bit annoying as deal said it had 10 hours to go. Oh well just saved me from spending more money on an Echo Dot to work with it.

Most people with HTPCs use a Harmony with IR, like me, not bluetooth, just needs a cheap dongle and all drivers for it are already in Windows.

Got mine today (chose nominated delivery). Looks much better than my previous Ultimate, which I've sent back to Amazon after having quite a few issues. Already had a replacement from Amazon for this by the way.
Set up all devices and activites.
Linked Alexa account with Harmony skill and linked my Logitech account, but can't get the dot to initiate activities.
Anyone had any joy using dot with this?
EDIT: Just watched some YouTube vids and it seem the U.S get a red and blue harmony skill, where us UK folk only get the red one.

15 Jul 17#56
Have you contacted Amazon to ask them what's going on?
stubbadub
15 Jul 17#57
Yes. I was on the online chat with them yesterday and they told me it was at the verification phase. While I was on with them I called my card provider and they had already authorised the payment (there was a £1 charge showing on my statement).
I also ordered some of the Philips hue bulbs and they were dispatched fine. I noticed they don't currently have any in stick so feel I am being fobbed off. I don't want to cancel the order as it is back up to full price now and I am worried they will just cancel the order.
G0rdonGekko
15 Jul 17#58
I'm sure they will honour the price even if that order doesn't go through. If they don't, ask to speak to a supervisor.
