Newbie question - does the amd sync matter if you're rocking intel i7 with 1060 gt graphics? Cheers

Don't think it does. As far as I'm aware, nvidia cards only work with g sync. Could be wrong though, but don't see why it isn't that.

Nice find OP. Seriously considering this to replace my old 24" screen. Mainly for productivity.

Bought OP, so you've helped at least one person

I think that is the problem though - Most hardcore gamers that would be in this mid-upper market of monitors have at least experienced 1440p whether at 144hz or not. Close to £400 is not good territory for this monitor to be in when the ACER 27inch 1440p 144hz monitors are about £20-30 behind.

I don't understand where this fad for curved monitors came from; no game renders with a curved projection plane, so displaying the resultant image onto a curved surface is just introducing distortion error.

If it's for gaming then it'll be fine. I had an LG non-curved and it was no problem at all. As someone mentioned, vertically it's like a 27inch monitor in height, so the 1080 works well enough.
The problem is if you've seen anything with a higher resolution for frequent desktop work then it'll pale in comparison. With the 144Hz refresh rate though, this is meant for gamers and there are much better options otherwise.

I have an LG 21:9 34" at this resolution and it's amazing. I went for the 1080p to get better FPS. Really great monitor.

Literally every review says the resolution isn't a problem - every one of these ultrawides has a trade-off somewhere, whether it's 1080p, no Freesync/G-Sync or a TN panel.
Super heat.

I couldn't possibly imagine playing 21:9 on a 34" with a 1080p v.resolution. I imagine the image looks stretched as hell.

I have the same resolution on a 29" screen. Works well for me, but I imagine it wouldn't on anything larger.

I'm keen for a 144hz ultra wide but not with this resolution.

What a strange monitor. The resolution let's the whole thing down.

These things are going to drop in price like a stone over the next little while. That 1080 vertical resolution is horrible in a monitor this wide, returned my one after a few days (different monitor same resolution).

This is 80dpi so similar to a 27" 1920x1080.
It's not for everyone but there are plenty of people for whom it does work. My next monitor will be one of these are the 96dpi of my [email protected]" screen is just too high for my setup.
If it doesn't suit you that's fine, but let's not treat a situation dependant characteristic as a negative.
This is a good deal, I've been watching this one and it's normally well over four hundred quid. The only other similar monitor (Freesync LFC, 80dpi, Ultrawide) is £550-600, the AOC Agon 35"
