Is it really? :joy: seems like £1 would be a good price if they crack after a few uses. Maybe you could put 10 in a pack and call them disposable and write Bic on them.
Not if you cure them. Break them in slowly with small fires gradually increasing in size. Also you want to keep fires small overall. Clay radiates heat.
You can also repair cracks easily.

I had this exact stove. burned it in correctly. It's impossible to have a big fire as they are tiny to start with! Developed a huge crack down the back and fell apart when I needed to move it. No fire cement was repairing the pile of ash and rubble.
