An amazing price for a condenser dryer. And because it's from John Lewis you get a 2 year guarantee!
I have been shopping around for a while and this is the best deal on the market.

Does it come with a free fire extinguisher?
I recently got rid of my Indesit and purchased a Bosch, must better thought dearer.

Got my Hotpoint condensing dryer for £99. Takes at least 3 cycles to sense correctly the stuff is dry and packed up 2 weeks over 12 month warranty. Had problems getting Hotpont to fix it. Still taking at least 3 cycles to dry though.

Are you sure you are cleaning it correctly as per the manual?
There are two sections that need to be cleaned, first is the fluff collection which should be done after ever cycle and next is the condenser unit which should be done at least once a month for regular use.
My Hotpoint is still working fine after over two years of use, and never takes a full cycle to fully dry clothes.

Never go back to a condenser again, drying times waaay tooo loooong compared to old fashioned vented machine's.

Why do people keep mentioning fire extinguishers on Hotpoint and Indesit threads? Are they really more likely to cause fires?

There was an danger of fires with a number of models because failure to clean the fluff filter on every cycle could lead to an eventual buildup of compacted fluff around the inside of the rear drum seal, which is where the heater aperture is.
All new models since mid 2015 incorporate the mod required to prevent fluff build-up.
None of this matters to the ill-informed muppets out there, who read a daily mail headline once and freaked.

Just google 'hotpoint dryer fire risk' - the answer will be clear. Useless, complete waste of time machines prone to catch fire...hence they are trying to flog them. Hotpoint customer service is poor at best..wouldn't touch these products with a barge pole.

Any tumble dryer can be a fire risk. Indesit replaced my fire risk tumble dryer, something to do with dust getting passed lint collector and then been able to settle on the heating element! My new improved model has a new lint collector that works almost perfect.
I dont like Indesit as a company, but the appliances they make are OK nowadays.

But is is known the mod does not aways work!
Was not just in Dalil Mail but most if not major newspapers and also on numerous TV stations also discussed by the government.
Advice just avoid all Whirlpool brands or get fire insurance if you can, my contents insurer advised me that I would not be covered as there was a known issue even if it was modified.

I've not seen any evidence of post-mod fires. Care to share a source for some, or are you just spit-balling and rehashing unsubstantiated rumours?
Your insurer is just as ill-informed then. It is true that some insurers said they wouldn't honour a policy if the fire was caused by an unmodified machine, but they accept the completion report issued by engineers as proof that the machine is safe*.
*Providing you clean the filter each and every cycle, like it says in the manual for all of them.

Make sure you check the specs, this is a very basic dryer but a great price none the less.
