Think the phillips with ambilight 55" deal on here is probably better
both TV's will have poor sound TBH

Goodmans TVs are made in the UK so quality is not bad. They have been around for 90+ years. The company, not their TVs!

I'm not sure who the OEM is for Cello/Goodmans but they do have a poor reputation compared with the normal Vestel budget TVs. If it were £300 then it might be worth the risk. At this price? Forget it.

I believe they're assembled in the UK rather than made here so the main impact on quality would be potentially better quality control rather than a more robust design.
The original Goodmans company was founded 90 years ago. Cello electronics who licence the brand to stick on their TV sets were founded in the 21st century: http://celloelectronics.com/company-history/
