Thanks te. I only managed to try on the large two or three days ago as I wasn't really in the mood at the time to ask to try the medium. My ex Monza is also a medium, so thought I'd be okay ordering the same size from CRC.

I say ex by the way as I had a fairly nasty fall yesterday evening, broke too quickly while passing a roundabout on the way to work last night, from what I can remember I lost my balance for some reason, grabbing the brakes clearly didn't help either, probably going too fast. I don’t normally do this sort of thing to be honest, I'm usually more careful.

Helmet is now seriously split in a few places, so you can see why I needed to order a new one, been after a Foray for a while now too. No concussion though lost some skin on my left hip which has also left a bump in the same area, and also lost some skin on the back of my shoulder on the same side as well and have also a broken rib too . Thankfully there was no other traffic around at the time, the damage most likely would have been worse if there was. I've also got a nasty looking bruise on my back as well according to the GP I saw in West Middlesex hospital, 6hrs I was there for altogether as well, arrived at A&E about 23:00, returned home around 05:00. I obviously fell heavier than I thought too, it didn’t half shake me up. Not in too much pain though, only when I move and/or lift anything on that side, I’m also having to do certain tasks in slow motion to prevent any potential and anticipated pain . All comes part and parcel with cycling and just goes to show how important wearing a helmet is, lesson learnt for sure.

Ouch! Really sorry to read that! Thankfully sounds like your helmet done it's job though, hope you make a speedy recovery and get back on the bike again soon!

Takes 4 weeks for broken ribs to heal apparently. Doc also said to continue doing normal activities, does that mean going for a pedal? Cycle home this morning wasn't painful, may be coz I'm not moving in ways that would normally hurt and with arms stretched out and hands on the handlebars there's not much movement top half of my body, so may explain why as well [perhaps]. I'll wait and see how I feel before I do though.

Im sure im right in saying. (and im not checking now as im off to bed) but:

Keep the receipt and in the event of an accident where the helmet is damaged (or you don't trust the integrity of it anymore), you can send it back to someone (not halfords) and they offer a reduction on another helmet.

Obviously i assume that if it is still being run (i'd guess it would be open to abuse) that if the company doesn't find fault with it then there would be no discount.

But something to check/consider none the less. I'm sure specialised also do something similar.

Just like the older, chunkier guys who buy expensive Pinarellos and then potter around at 14mph on them, as if they bought a "cheap" bike then they would only do 14mph on those ones. :smile:

I don't have a problem with "older, chunkier" guys pottering around on any kind of bike. I see a lot of them where I live, and every time I do I think "fair play - better than sitting on the sofa"

I wasn't knocking them. I was just agreeing that theres no real need to spend more on something that will give you the same performance for less and in some cases a lot less.

Agreed. Applies to everyone though - not just "older, chunkier guys"
