Can't speak for these generic 'gaming' mice that are in essence normal mice with some lights, a DPI selector and a flashy shape. Not all mice are created equal, my current mouse is a true gaming mouse, comes with 8 buttons, up-to 8200dpi precision laser, full custom driver and macro suite that can accept LUA scripts for macro automation.
I played for a long time on a cheap <£10 gaming mouse, upgraded to a corsair m45 pro and to be honest it didn't improve my play in the slightest, and the cheap mouse was actually comfier to use.
