Here is a nice little trip which sees you stop off in China (Beijing) and also Thailand for two weeks on November/December this year. For all hotels book on Ebookers using code SUMMER14
All accommodation is rated good or excellent. Flights include all hold luggage, the additional costs not included here are airport transfers but you have lots of options from public transport to taxi costs.
Here are the details:
25/11
You'll fly from London to Beijing with Air China. I've flown with them myself and they aren't too bad, they aren't going to compare to sag Ethiad or Singapore and the IFE is a bit naff but it will get you there. Take a good book!
You'll fly to Bangkok on 28/11 arriving late in the evening. You'll spend 4 nights in Bangkok (3 and a half full days) at the https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g293916-d7305099-Reviews-Paragon_One_Residence-Bangkok.html which has good reviews. It's close to Khao San Road and also the Grand Palace. If you get chance I recommend visiting the 'Bridge on the River Kwai' it's a long trip but really interesting.
Book hotel on Ebookers using code SUMMER14 £67.45
2-5/12
You'll fly to Chiang Mai today. You can catch the train but I never heard one person say good things about it when I went but if you want the 'experience' it is a cheaper option than flying. Book flights on http://www.airasia.com £77.89
In Chiang Mai you'll stay at https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g293917-d1028863-Reviews-Banilah-Chiang_Mai.html Chiang Mai is great for wandering along the river, seeing the elephants at any of the nearby parks and it also has lots of temples for you to explore, as well as a good nihht market inside the city walls. Book hotel on Ebookers using code SUMMER14 £30.93
You take off at 1:40am, but you will need to be at the airport around 10:30pm on 12th. You could perhaps negotiate a late checkout at the hotel on 12th.
Total £1303.86/£651.93pp

With the exception of the Hilton in Bangkok, none of the rooms I had in Thailand had air con, and that was at Easter this year. Same for Vietnam and I coped fine with the heat. I actually prefer a fan as oppose to air-conditioning which aggravates my eyes but if that's important to you then you can find alternative accommodation easily.

That's what I'm saying, this deal is for Nov/Dec and I went in April with no air conditioning!

Seems like a great trip .... but I didn't see any reference to the visa costs for China ....I was there last year and we had to pay around £150 p/p ...and that was a one night stay!

China visas are much cheaper for Irish passport holders. Get that Brexit passport applied for!

It's my understanding that you won't need a visa. As you are continuing your journey you'll get a free a visa waiver programme that allows you to stay for 72 hours visa free.

Yes you're correct, the visa waiver is applicable to selective passport border from 51 countries including British, USA and many other countries.
I would check your understanding ....I was on a cruise ship that stopped for one night...and we had to pay the visa ...and you had to pay for the visa even if you stayed on the ship and didn't set foot in china.

Great find, but personally 2 days in Beijing in Nov/Dec then flying to Thailand from China does not appeal. You could get direct BA flights from London to Bangkok for £463pp return 27th Nov - 13th December, then pick up the hotels from the post, overall cost would not be very different, makes more sense to me

Indeed, but for some a couple of days in China would appeal for some sightseeing. I'd go back to China in a heartbeat. You can get indirect flights (without a couple of days in China for around £340). If your aim is to just get to Thailand in the quickest time possible then paying an extra £100pp or so would probably appeal.
