Me and my daughter had it today and £5.05p plus a £1 for a sauce that I was buying anyway. It's a nice amount of chicken and was perfect for lunch

Seems like a lot of effort (and money) for a 1/4 of a chicken. And since when was 1/4 of a chicken even a thing? Which 1/4 is it? And it's always dry and bland. They try to use spiciness as a substitute for actual taste. The only good thing about Nando's is the mash.

Also, it's nice to see that not everyone has been taken in by racist anti-halal stupidity.

The UK Govt should act to approve HMC as the sole certifier of halal meat, currently there are many different claims of halal causing confusion and division.

My purpose for this post is to clear any misunderstanding because people usually associate 'halal' with animal cruelty, whereas it's really not the case:

- the knife has to cut the throat with ONE swift stroke which effectively cuts off the nerve and blood supply to the brain, hence the animal doesn't feel ANY MORE pain than it would with stunning.

- the movements of the animal after the knife cut are simply muscle spasms, it doesn't mean the animal is in pain. That's the natural property of muscles when their nerve/blood supply has been cut off.

- ALL the blood is therefore allow to drain (flows out) since blood is a source of many bacteria and microorganisms which are unhealthy, thus reducing chance of you getting disease.

The 'ritual' being mentioned is just saying that we are grateful for this food (blessing) that God you have blessed us with (since there are people out there who are not as lucky as us in terms of having food on their plates)

If you look at their Halal certificate, they get supplied by Freemans. Freemans use stunned chicken, hence why it is not recognised as halal on halalmc.org

I think you need to actually learn what Halal is, rather than just believing everything your read in the newspapers.

Firstly there's no praying or chanting, it's just the words that translate to "In the name of Allah". There are rules for the slaughter of animals that make it Halal which goes beyond just saying the name of Allah. Such as the animals should not be kicked or treated brutally before the slaughter. They should be given water before the slaughter and the knife must be sharp enough to cut the throat and jugular in one stroke so as not to cause more than necessary pain and suffering to the animal. The jugular is sliced so that the heart continues to beat for a short time and pumps as much blood out as possible. This means there's less blood pooling in the body and hence less bacteria in the meat.

Now I am not saying that all the Halal butchers/abattoirs follow the rules, but that's not the fault of the rules/religion. Just like not every atheist is a law abiding citizen, that's not a failing of the law.

you have to spend a minimum of 5quid. doesnt mean your full meal will equate to 5quid and not a penny more.

your 3 meals may be 10 quid each (take into account the coat of the bottomless drinks ) so thats 30 quid (with 3 qtr chickens free which is only really 1 thigh/leg) . hardly an amazing deal.
