One that plug into a socket couldn't be easier, but the hardwired ones also has to be the easiest thing in the world. There's a plate behind the original oven its just like a plug , brown, blue, green/yellow. Oven comes with a cable, wire it up. Why pay some muppet tons of money to install it for you. If you can wire a plug you can do it. If not then yeah call a sparky since 99% of these company installers are not qualified electricians anyway.

There is such a thing as a gas oven. The old one needs to be removed by a gas safe engineer, likewise the new one has to be fitted by a gas safe engineer and a gas safe test and certificate issued. Bargain if its free or half price and yes the offer applies to gas as well as electric.

There are many things that can go wrong, being ignorant is no defence. If the company offers a service, they have to live up to it or face the consequences, you saying it's the easiest thing in the world is very short sighted, hope nobody suffers for your attitude. This is a saving from normal price and is a deal for those who don't do electrics or gas.

am a qualified electrician mate. these people who come along and install your oven are delivery drivers that know how to use a screwdriver. they are not electricians. anyone can do this job. if they don't feel confident sure. but if you know how to wire a plug they can manage to do this. why the hostility ?

If the oven comes with cable, then yes, if you can wire a plug, you can fit it yourself.
Some ovens dont come with cable, so then you have to make sure you get correctly rated, heat resistant cable (if you want to do it properly/safely)

Born and live with SAFETY flyer on your forehead right? ;-) I don't even see any reason to not plugging gas oven by myself. But maybe because I plugged a gas container to my stove on weakly basis since I was 5...
Well, not saying its stupid deal or something, might be useful to many people, I don't expect 80 years old gramma to do this, but I don't expect to see her comments in here as well ;-)

But as part of delivery they do all the unpacking, take the old stuff out and take all the rubbish away. Worth the money if you're elderly or not able to do this yourself.

I thought new installations had to use the correct cable from switch to consumer unit, on its own fuse at CU, and with hob and oven being independent? Surely they take that into account?

The oven will come with the cable to hook up to the power point. They have to, by law.
And yeah, you need / should have by regulation a separate circuit just for the cooker. Usually on a non-RCD side of the CU and normally you will already have that if you are replacing an oven. New circuits do have to be on an RCD though.

As apposed to having KNOB on your forehead... right?

Not true. Built-in ovens do not come with a cable fitted to the terminal block, making it potentially very dangerous for someone without knowledge of electrical principles to hook it up themselves!

This is not hostility for you to see it as that doesn't do you any favours. I too am an electrician but I am in my twilight years and wouldn't encourage all and sundry to have a go, which is beside the point that this is a good deal for many.

Think the electric oven installation is a waste of money however the gas hob installation is well worth it. Noticed a smeg one is totally free at £209 wouldn't argue with that fitted. Paid a gas Safe engineer £75 to fit one at mine last week!
