People say 7 is the best FF but 9 was the best for me. This is currently half price on Steam and is the cheapest it has ever been.

Way too often over looked because of 7 and 8 but it was such a great game

To be honest, it was the only Final Fantasy for me that had the feel of the "fantasy" environment.

Much better than 8 and I loved the fantasy environment but 7 had so much wow factor.

Thoroughly enjoyed this on release. Can't believe that was almost 17 years ago though. 17 years. 17!
No encounter mode would have been handy for a re-play on the Vita (before I sold it), but maybe one day PS4 will get PSOne titles...maybe.
Don't miss the Chocobo hot and cold though, I must admit!

IX Was by far the best for me!
Purchased it on PC last year when it was released and sunk 100+ hours into it all over again.
Still have the PSN version with the 4 CD's and guide in the cellophane wrap
I also grabbed X-X2 Remastered in this sale for nostalgia.

If you get this make sure to check out the HD backgrounds/characters mod which can be found in the steam forums. A wonderful game, just wish this port had analog control (like the original) and no massive mobile menus.

I wasn't aware of this. Thanks
May as well play through it again with the mods.

I'll bit on this and FF8 if it comes to PS4.
If you mastered steal on this (and VII) you were always one step ahead of the game and saved a fortune in cash. Treasure hunting helped hugely too (though it was annoying).
FF8, if you worked it right, you could get the Lionheart weapon before the end of disc 1. Took some effort, but was totally worth it.

I agree, this was the best PS1 title for me as well.
I think VII is mentioned more because, at the time of release, VII had a massive wow factor with it's Cut Scenes which were like nothing before it.
