Hovertravel are offering discounted family (2 adults and up to 3 children) day returns to the Isle of Wight for only £25 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 7th and 23rd August. Family day returns are normally £55, so a decent saving to be had if you book the offer before 30th July.
The hovercraft goes from Southsea to Ryde from early morning til late evening. Ryde has some of the best sandy beaches on the Isle of Wight, with plenty to do to keep the kids entertained. Great idea for school holidays!

good price, I live on IOW (Just outside ryde) and the seafront has- amusement park, trampolines, mini golf, lawn bowls, swimming pool, boating lake, 10-pin bowling, great beach up by appley tower (10 min walk east), kiddies playground near the harbour, another by appley tower, fancy a 20 min walk east from the hovercraft and you'll get to puckpool park, a Napoleonic fort with more mini golf, good playgound, cafes. a further 10 min walk along the coast east gets you to a nature reserve with bird hide just outside seaview. there is also a taxi rank and a bus station right next to the hovercraft so you can go further afield, or a bike hire shop at the top of town (TAV cycles). The trainline goes from next to hovercraft down to shanklin too. Other great attractions that require a journey are Osbourne house (where Queen Victoria lived), Havenstreet Steam Railway, unfortunately we do not have a burger king on the IOW- but we are getting an ASDA soon!

Great deal, and a big surprise; I thought they retired the hovercraft a few years ago; I am sure I saw a news item on the Beeb about it.

It's a boat right so not a ferry cant bring your car?
