As well as eight HDMI inputs, component and composite video, analogue and digital audio and USB, the AVRX3300W can also connect to your home network- wirelessly or wired- and has Bluetooth built in. You can view or listen to material from a multitude of sources with ease.
The 3300W can handle 4K and 3D signals, passing them through for stunning images from your television or projector. Alternatively, you can connect a separate amp and speakers to the Zone 2 pre-outs and enjoy 7 channels in the main room. There are also 7 channels of pre-out if you want to connect power amplifiers to drive your speakers.
The Denon AVR Remote App lets you control the AVR-X3300W with your smartphone or tablet, whether iOS or Android. Access the set-up menu, the receiver's status, and more, with ease.

Zensor 5 and Zensor 7 are floorstanding speakers.

I only have a pair of 8ohm front floor speakers so far, can you tell my if it's possible to use the surround sound speakers from a Blu-ray home cinema system for part of the setup until I can afford the rest of the speakers I want or do they have to be 8ohms?
rev6 to jumpinoffthbed

Usually not no. You can run say 6ohm and 8ohm speakers but these theatre systems have strange rated speakers.

You should be fine, take a look at the user manual:
Page 34 of the PDF download states you can use any speakers from 4-16 Ohms - I'd be surprised if any of your speakers are outside of this range. Just wire them up and let auto-tuning do its best.
yeah I did see that post was going to ask you what sub you use & what speaker wire. my amp won't be delivered untill next week but I found this..
"the AVR-X3300W also has low impedance drive capability, to provide operational stability with speakers down to 4 ohms" so I'll play with a few different speakers.

There's a hidden menu to change the ohms setting for the Denon AV. I'd leave it at 8 ohms though.

oh it doesn't do it automatically then? i guess that means you can't use some 6 and some 8 ohms then
rev6 to jumpinoffthbed
1 Sep 17#53
Well you don't need to change that setting really. That's why it's hidden. It just restricts the amp to be honest. It will drive less than 8 ohms.

The Silver's are nice speakers. They need a lot of room to get the most out of them. Bronze aren't that great, prefer Zensor.

Sorry for the late reply been busy liaising with Sony to try to sort out my HDMI issue (the drop-outs). Need 3, 1 for tv, 1 for projector last one for our front room (so we can port over whatever channel we want to that tv too). Yes you can get the wireless senders. But having that extra hdmi really does help. BUT worst case we'll have to get one with 2 only.

1500 quid on. 5.1 speaker system TO GO WITH AN AV RECEIVER, will give you better music reproduction.
Only worth spending 1500 quid on a speaker pair for stereo music if you are sending similar on a stereo amplifier.
If anyone tells you different they are regurgitating wisdom from the 90s and have not heard or do not appreciate a well set up mid range receiver with a well balanced 5.1 system using all channel stereo for example.
I know because I have had a couple since 2007 and they blow all stereo systems I have heard in demo rooms worth around the same price out the water all day long AND you can listen to SACD, Blu Ray music, Dvd music, movies.
No brainer.

Only worth spending £1500 on speakers if you're spending £1500 on a stereo amplifier? I am confused. If anything. You could buy some fantastic stereo speakers, say the Monitor Audio Silver 10's (£999 right now in walnut), and then buy a decent AV to power them. What's wrong with doing that? No need to spend £1500 on a stereo amplifier, for that price budget anyway. I am pretty sure the 10's will play music better than any 5.1 system you can buy for £1000, but I guess that's my opinion.

14 Jul 17#31
You entirely missed my point.
Clearly spending the same money on two speakers as you would five speakers is going to give you two speakers which are better. I'm just not likely to spend £800 on two speakers, but spending it on 5 and a sub doesn't feel wrong and usually results in better speakers than I would buy for music.
rev6 to ro53ben
14 Jul 17#32
It wasn't that I missed the point. Your priorities are clearly not on stereo music alone, so sure you would benefit more buying a 5.1 setup. That was the point!
TomScrut to ro53ben
15 Jul 17#33
Still not a win win to somebody who prioritises music, as they would be better off with the stereo pair. That's why the ratio matters even if it doesn't apply to you
ro53ben
14 Jul 17#27
From my perspective, I've always been able to justify more budget on the home cinema system than on a music system - we spend way more time watching TV in that room than listening to music.
So I spend a decent amount on a 5.1 system and end up with better speakers than I would if I bought a music system. Win Win.
rev6 to ro53ben

You could buy better speakers if you went stereo. More money for it. It depends on the ratio.

13 Jul 17#18
What are you driving them with? Generally with speakers they do get better the more you spend (as long as you buy speakers that are good at that price point). But if you want surround sound for movies then stereo won't cut it. I run stereo 2.2 and don't miss surround for films having had it in the past. I prioritise music so would rather have the two better speakers than 5 inferior ones.

I currently have old school set of kefs 5.1 stereo system two big towers at front...just the colour doesn't go with the new house which is a shame as I love these speakers and the Denon amp I have isn't 4k or hdr compatible so I need to upgrade that too. I watch more movies then listen to music so I'd be pointing more towards 5.1 system.

For 1500 you can have an amazing 5.1 system that will give you better sound than a two channel system if using the Denon.

For stereo music, £1500 would get you a better 2.0 music system than 5.1 I think that's what they're asking.

Yeah - i used to do that with my Naim pre-power setup, Yamaha acting as centre and rears. Got too messy though

13 Jul 17#21
I compromised, I have a pair of decent Mission floorstanders for music and then added a low-mid range 5.1 set to make up the 7.1 set for movies. The Missions are fantastic for music and compensate somewhat for the cheaper surround speakers in films.
TomScrut to RexNoctis
13 Jul 17#22
Yes I used to run a stereo pair with lesser centre and rears and it was OK. I ended up going back to stereo though so I could concentrate my money into that, as I was effectively running 2 systems, a stereo system with an input from my surround system with HT bypass on.

Anyone got any advice on what amp is needed if I need 3 hdmi outs, I know you can buy hdmi splitters but the cost of decent 4k splitters tends to be quite onerous. Currently using a Sony 1050. But noticed a number online having issues with intermittent drop outs when watching anything (via hdmi). Just want to future proof myself
rev6 to kas786

Usually reserved for the more premium models. A splitter is probably the cheapest way to go about it sadly.

The main reason why I purchased this model over the 2300 was because it had pre amp outs. I have a pair of floorstanding front speakers which I power from a separate HiFi amp and output the sound to the surrounds and centre via the Denon. This for me produces a far better sound than simply running all channels via the receiver. Pre outs these days are limited to the higher cost AV receivers unfortunately. I am however extremely pleased with the 3300!

12 Jul 17#10
That's what I would expect, if a mid range amp wasn't much better than the entry level alternative denon wouldn't be doing a very good job of things and their reputation is obviously very important to them.

Indeed. They could have just improved features. Not sound quality. Like XT32 for example. I know that in turn improves sound, my tests were done Pure Direct. The 2300 is very good for it's current price too. "Lifeless" might have been a bit harsh.

Much better. Feature wise they're very similar (apart from auddyssey version. It's worth it for that alone.
I've heard both and.l there's definitely a fidelity improvement. The 2300 sounded a bit lifeless to me. Certainly didn't make good speakers sound how they should.
This is 5.2.1 but the 3300 sounds noticeably better to me.
