If you are after beautiful, premium Windows Ultrabook, take a look at Huawei Mateboox X.expensive but nothing comes close.it's basically MacBook 12 for Windows.
I researched these Windows Ultrabooks extensively..Zenbook,XPS 13,Xiaomi..

Voted hot because it's a good price. However just bought a Chromebook for £250. Aluminium, 1.5kg, 12hr battery life, instant boot, IPS screen, zero maintenance. Friend using it the other day: "how do you do xxxx, I don't know how to use macbooks." That's despite it saying Acer in big letters on it lol.
Specs-wise it's not comparable I'm not arguing one is better than the other, but if you don't need Windows or play games and you just want an ultrabook for the size/weight/battery life Etc., you get a lot for your money with a CB.

Beautiful looking laptop, why have a ugly thick black bezel around the beautiful sharp screen.

I doubt that is the reason; Dell XPS has a borderless/edge-to-edge screen for example. I would assume the decision has to do with the size/form-factor of the device - e.g., the lid being able to cover the base of the laptop.

Yes and here's a picture of one. I actually had some one want to trade one in yesterday, but he wouldn't take £300 for it, was worth a try >

£750 is seriously pricey. The UX305 was around £549-£599.

Why is it so expensive? Usually a dedicated GPU of some kind on laptops in this price range

It's an ultrabook, shouldn't even be comparing them with bulky laptops with dedicated GPU

There are two directions laptops tend to take when they go above £500- beefy and powerful, or slim and light with a premium design. This is evidently going in the latter direction.
That's not in new condition.

Really good slim laptop, bit pricey for me for that spec though. I'd expect dedicated gfx of some sort at this price.

Not seen that one before..nice....got a Zenbook i5 7th gen from the AO offer a couple of months ago approx 550.....which i think was a better deal than this - so hold out and something will come up. Love the zenbook series though

the Huawei Matebook X is very recent.just launched infact.
It is truly the best in terms of design.also splash proof and has finger print sensor and 2 USB-C ports.
reviews are promising too.
The Zenbook has some problems like short battery life and bad keyboard..it's good but not great.this price is fine for it Imo.
But I will only consider Huawei Matebook X.

Asus are missing a trick with much of their ZenBook range by not pushing versions with Win 10 Pro pre-installed (in theory, they do exist, but are extremely hard to find). They lost possible sales from my workplace by not doing so - we went for Dell XPS'es instead. As for this one, the battery life doesn't sound good and selling an ultrabook with an HDD included (yes, I know it has an SSD as well) is ludicrous - save weight, power and money by not including one please! Would allow a better SSD to be included at the same price too...

No, means it's a 'mobile' processor (slow, but low power)
had the ux330 in my hand for a few days which is almost identical to this and it's a solid laptop. The only problem I had with it was the annoying fan noise, keep spinning up when loading someting a touch heavier than opening a notepad

It's another case of people seeing 'i7' and thinking it's an excellent deal.
Intel are so far ahead now the i series name means nothing. They literally upped the clock speeds of least years m5 and m7 chips and rebadged them as i5 and i7 just to get more £££.
They left the m3 as the m3, despite it being significantly better than last years m3, just to get more people to look towards the i5/7 which aren't actual i5/7s.
Bought the ux32a a few years ago in Asda ex display for £125 swapped out hdd for ssd and added some ram. Still going very strong

wrong, almost identical. Actually i5-7200U's TDP-up speed is a touch higher.

750? isn't tech supposed to be getting cheaper.. i remember when less than £500 was the standard for a good laptop and £300 for a medium

£500 for a premium laptop has never been the case and I know you used the word good not premium but good is a lot more of a subjective term.
This is a pretty good and fairly premium laptop so £500 is not realistic.

It's not all about specs snd numbers on paper, build quality and quality of components and materials used and attention to details plays a big role in price.
Even a decade ago "premium" laptops where in the £800-£1000 range.
likes of Sony Vaio (top of the range varients with higher quality build and nicer displays for example where £1000 10 years ago).
£500 was the price of "good" laptos not premium ones and £300 was buttom of the barrel, cheaply made ones with low quality display and ugly cheap plasticy feel.

i3 instead of i7, no 500GB HDD, and less RAM. For my purposes, the JL spec is quite adequate, so tempted by that deal.
