The BenQ is 8 bit + FRC, while the ASUS is a 10 bit panel. For a 10 bit 4K panel, this is a good deal.

No it is not, but it is good and not far off. Best alternative I can find that's calibrated out of the box is the BenQ PD3200U which is on Scan for £764 at the moment, but it's a pre-order, they don't have stock yet.
I concede defeat and will vote this deal hot.

Awesome monitor. Very tempted.

I'd buy a 50" 4K TV for that price and use it as a monitor :smirk:

I'd love the upgrade but can't justify paying £1400 when my u2711 is still going strong.

10 bit is exactly why I ordered one. Fantastic photo editing monitor.

Seriously does any run of the mill pc owners pay this much for a monitor. Idk if it worth it but wow these inflated prices are ridiculous to me personally. It's almost like the the pc owners themselves are creating these rip off prices by acting all superior and knowledgeable and being brainwashed into having the best.

You don't really understand what you're commenting on, but that's because it is somewhat specialist, which also explains the price and the reason you don't understand.

No, because its not a run of the mill monitor.......

That's kind of what he said. For run of the mill PC users, it's bragging rights. For some of the people posting, it's useful, e.g. photo editing.

No, he also implied its a "rip off" when actually for a precalibrated monitor of this standard, it's cheap. Go take a look at some of the Eizo professional lines...

I use a Philips BDM4065 40 inch 4k monitor, which cost £630. I justified this because it replaced my four older TN 1080p monitors with a single screen which can divide into 4 active panes with the benefit of running as a single 4k pane as well. IPS plus better colours than TN too, but only 8-bit colour depth so not perfect for photo editing.
The price was less than four IPS 22 inch screens at the time, so I don't consider it inflated.

I use a 15" CRT monitor. Witcher 3 looks awesome minus some lines on the screen

Trying to find something to push that 1080ti hey? :man::wink:
Sounds better than the Asus tbh from the Tom's Hardware review... Would have preferred an Amazon warranty than a BT Shop one too.

VA screen, no pre-calibration. Looking at Amazon reviews it seems there's some serious banding issues.
I'd be dubious that Benq didn't send TH a golden sample (calibrated) and that you'd get something very different. No guarantee of colour accuracy at all.

The Benq is a true 10-bit IPS panel, I got the impression it uses the same AOO panel as the Asus.
You could say that every manufacturer sends a pre calibrated sample to TH but from the results it sounds as good as the Asus... with the bonus of being a 2017 model and not from the BT shop.

... the Amazon reviews don't inspire total confidence though, tbf.

It might have come down in price but it's not a good price for a UHD 8 bit 32" monitor.
Take the Philips 328P6VJEB/00 which offers UHD 10 bit VA and calibrated, by the same seller at £580 why would you chose to pay £200 more for a lesser spec ?
