Thanks for all the pointless posts from people who don't own and have never used this product telling me how bad it is, maybe your clairvoyance could be put to better use on TV?
As for electric, they are reasonable for a small or medium garden. Mine is narrow, but nearly 200ft long which makes cables more than a bit of a chore. Horses for courses as they say.

Believe it or not, some people do have gardens with hedges that need trimming year after year. It's a complete pain in the but when you accidentally cut through the cord, again, and the hedge is too big for a battery trimmer to cope with.

I spend hours trimming the hedge around my manor. I also love the smell of 2-stroke exhaust from my Trabantz. This is a win-win for me

Please don't buy this. These cheap petrol goods won't last five minutes. False economy.

I bought a challenger (Argos or B&Q) brand trimmer similar to this and the clutch/blades/engine were all cracker-toy cheap.
the blades were the worst. made with no finesse at all they would often just bend twigs and leaves inbetween blades instead of actually cutting them.
Much better off getting a used branded trimmer on eBay or gumtree, or just spending more.
how much is a machete? (_

Up until a few years ago I would have agreed. After 10 years my McCulloch petrol strimmer give up. Having a garden that's about third of an acre I need a petrol strimmer and thought I will buy a cheap one from Tesco expecting it to last a couple of years. 5 years on its still going. Starts second pull every time from cold, first pull when hot, unlike the expensive McCulloch. It's far better in every way and was half the price. Sometimes cheap Chinese stuff is good as well as cheap.

get electric if you can,
picked up my old one after 4-5 years of not using it, and it just worked. Did some trimming for 10mins and then carried on with my day.
